Imagine... there's a knock on your door. You open it. And it's Jane Fonda! At CBS News and Stations we profiled Fonda's climate activism during this election season -- which now includes raising 3 million dollars to support down-ballot candidates who support climate action, down to the school board level.
This part of our "Political Climate" series is a collaboration between Covering Climate Now, Traci Wholf, Chance Horner, Sarah Metz, Amy Corral, CBS Saturday and Mark Hertsgaard.

As a kid, driving down from Northern Michigan at the end of summer there was often at least one tree already changing colors in late August. Today, I look forward to December days in Texas, like this one, where our ginkgo tree drops all its leaves in just a day, or two.

Hi, friends. I have some personal news to share.
Climate change is one of the most important stories of our time and covering it is my passion. Today, I’m taking a new step on that journey by joining CBS News and Stations as a National Environmental Correspondent.
So after 16-years, it's time to say goodbye to WFAA, a legendary and vibrant TV station where I have absolutely loved working.
Now, along with my long-time producing partner and friend, Chance Horner, we’ll build a new reporting brand that helps people understand how intimately connected we are to the world around us, the problems we face and solutions we’ll need if we are to leave behind a world that our children can still comfortably live in.
I hope you'll join us on the journey.

More than $1.7 billion dollars. That's how much local governments have deposited in banks. Some say it's time to explore how well those banks lend to low-income and minority communities if they want to keep those deposits to keep flowing.
