bluesy hiphop on the way...

05/04/2026

Jackson, Mississippi — A new sound is rising from the South, and it’s rooted deep in tradition.

Capitol Q, a Jackson native known for his commanding voice and street-grounded storytelling, is stepping into a new lane with his upcoming project — a bold fusion of Mississippi blues and hip-hop.

But this isn’t a sample-driven experiment.

This is live, real blues.

Backed by full musical arrangements inspired by juke joint culture, Capitol Q delivers his signature flow over guitars, basslines, and rhythms that echo the soul of Mississippi’s past — while speaking directly to the present.

Production by Dallas-based producer Jesse Del Queens, who's also from Mississippi, known for his hard, melodic, and big-bodied sound, now tapping into blues roots to help shape what some are calling a “genre shift.”

Adding another layer, Kelly Ross brings smooth, soulful vocal melodies that bridge the grit of blues with modern emotion.

“This is more than music,” one insider close to the project says. “It’s Mississippi storytelling… just with a new voice.”

With this upcoming release, Capitol Q is not just making songs.

He is redefining where Southern hip-hop can go.
