One pathway to getting lean is a low fat approach with quality protein and better for you carbs.

Another approach is low carbs with quality protein and good fats.

Both work!

However if your consuming a lot of carbs and fat, it spells trouble in your quest to get lean. Two great examples of a high fat/carb combo would be movie theater popcorn. Carbs from the popcorn and low quality oil that it’s made with plus butter added on top. Another example are French fries, potatoes deep fried in oil.

Just telling you what you already know so next time as your leaving the movie theater or burger joint and wonder why your not making the progress you deserve it’s generally because of a high fat high carb (high calorie) combo.

My name is Christi Land and I am a nurse practitioner in Alaska. I first did your program in 1996 or 97....maybe 98 - I know it was shortly after I finished school and had that school weight added to my other troubling weight to lose when your infomercial came along. It was a tremendously healthy and successful route to weight loss, and with the exception of the occasional foray into something “bigger better faster new“ after a few pregnancies or tempted by fantastic fad stories, I have always returned to your program. It is the only program I have ever recommend to my patients, family, and friends - because it is the only program that I would stake my reputation on. As the years have passed, I’ve had to search eBay to order some replacement tapes or packs for a family member, and have always recommended your book, which of course is now available through Amazon. But as technology changes people do not have access to cassette players (I actually only keep one because of your tapes - honestly, when I need to refocus, I find that listening to you guide me through the seven day slim down or the 21 days as opposed to just reading it really gives me the boost that I need), and as your cassettes have now become impossible to find, I am wondering if there are any plans to make it more accessible with downloads? I can certainly continue to hoard my tapes for my own use, but I would really love to be able to continue to recommend an access point for others. Especially now when everyone is keto crazy, I think it’s important to have a diet and lifestyle like yours that is a much healthier and more sustainable option. My patients bounce on and off of keto or other fad diets, and then are frustrated and fatter when they come back to me. I hope to hear that there are plans in the works for making the audible portion of your program accessible again. I would also love to have the written planners, but I know that people love their devices and I’m not sure if you have thought about an app that would do the7/21 days and on? That would be the most fantastic thing!

Please let me know if there is any plans in place, or if there are any alternatives to accessing any old stock of your materials.

Regardless what path you choose nutritionally be it low fat, paleo, Keto, vegan or sports nutrition there are a few common threads in all of these programs that apply to lose weight that can help speed up your desired results.

1. calories matter
2. Protein matters
3. Quality of food matters
4. Avoid sugar
5. Avoid processed foods
6. Eat 3-5 meals
7. Prep your own food
8. Bring food with you
9. Don’t snack
10. Reduce alcohol
11. Go to bed slightly hungry
12. Drink lots of water

There ya go! Regardless the path you choose you will see better results if you apply these common threads for success!!

I just had an interesting conversation with a young man name Abdul who works at a convenient store where I was purchasing a beverage.

(I need to start by saying I had my consult with my guru Kevin Wilson at the early part of last week. I had increased in weight and body fat since my last visit in August. Not alarmingly so. Yet it alarmed me. Testosterone wasn’t where we prefer either. It’s always good to place yourself in check. Kevin always knows how to get me back on track. 5 days of super strict eating, training and my BioTE pellets by Mandy Cotten and already things are starting to change or so I now assume.)

As I’m paying Abdul, age 20ish says DUDE! Your jacked for an older DUDE! I said thank you, I guess. He’s says No DUDE! I mean it. I bet you can punch 3 people and knock them all out. I said I’m not planning on punching anyone now or ever but thanks. He says but if you wanted to you sure would put a hurt on them. I said the best part of being an older man is the pure sincere desire of never wanting and hopefully never having to punch anyone ever again but thank you, I guess...

I have to admit that I was not feeling good about myself earlier in the week. What a difference 5 days of clean eating can make along with hormonal optimization and a young kid dishing out a few compliments. Moral of the story is it takes very little to turn your narrative completely around. The 3 P’s Passion, Persistence and Perseverance... 😊🙏🏻💪🏼

A few months ago Brenda Stone and I took an Uber to the airport. The drivers name was Lekendrick. He moved to Dallas from Atlanta. He had a very kind mannerism about him. As we engaged in conversation we learned his brother recently died in a freak work related accident. He shared how it’s obviously taken it’s toll on his mom. As to how he ended up in Dallas, it’s where God has guided him to come to pursue his ultimate dream of teaching kids, he has a degree is in education, yet jobs appear hard to come by.

As he dropped us off at our gate I suggested we exchange contact information. As we did we also exchanged a warm hug as we wished him well in his pursuit of happiness. I then called my compadre Rene Martinez who’s worked for and with the DISD for decades and I passed on Lekendrick’s information. As it turned out his resume was rather strong.

Fast forward to yesterday. Lekendrick calls me. I said Hi, how are things going? Well as it turns out Rene helped him get a full time job at Skyline High School. He was overwhelmed with pure joy and gratitude. He literally had tears in his voice as he kept saying: God is good Larry North, God is good! He called to thank me up and down. The only thing I asked in return was to someday to be able to speak to his students on the importance of helping others and for him to join me on my radio show to share his success and the importance of being a connector to those you believe in.

God works in miraculous ways...

A special thank you to Rene Martnez my amazing son in law Matt Martinez’s father for helping Lekendrick land his dream job. Rene, it wouldn’t of happened without your help.

I believe this is worth sharing if for just one reason to never underestimate our abilities to influence others in a positive way. Helping one person can influence the lives of many others. And yes God is good.
