Reaching the unreached in the hard places of Africa - by training local leaders to plant churches. South Sudan 🇸🇸 Sudan 🇸🇩 DR Congo 🇨🇩 We’re changing that.

An estimated 3 billion people are living without access to the gospel. This means that for generations, families have remained trapped in darkness—without hope and peace. By equipping and mobilizing local leaders, Empower One church planters are taking the gospel back into their own neighborhoods and surrounding communities—where they’re better missionaries than we could ever be. It’s within this

This Sunday, 12 church leaders were ordained by the Baptist Convention of South Sudan in Kajo Keji.

They gathered last week with their spouses for a special time of prayer, learning, fellowship, and spiritual preparation as they reflected on their calling and the responsibilities that come with shepherding God's people.

Sunday’s ordination was a gathering of church leaders, congregants, and guests from across the country as they celebrated the advancement of the Kingdom and God’s calling on these men.

Their ordination marks a significant milestone in their lives.
It also marks a significant milestone for the Church – an agent of hope, peace, and reconciliation in this new and healing nation.

Please pray for these leaders and their families. Pray that God would give them wisdom, humility, endurance, and a deep love for the people they serve.

Strong churches are built through faithful leaders – and faithful leaders are formed over time through prayer, discipleship, and obedience to God's call.

These members of FBC Yei are working the land together, growing food to support their church community. 🌽

This is what ministry looks like in the day-to-day. Each row planted and w**d pulled will support the church and sustain their ministry and community in meaningful ways.

These men and women are part of something important: leading out in generosity and in building a ministry that self-sustains.

Please join us in praying for FBC Yei and other churches as they serve with purpose and dignity.

Meet Pastor Isaac Martin, from Yambio, South Sudan.

After our leadership conference earlier this year, he shared how the leadership training is strengthening churches across South Sudan at a crucial time for ministry.

Press play to hear it from him! ▶️

This year, we’ve seen our pastors and leaders putting this training into practice across South Sudan.

They were already doing the work, and with renewed vision and strategy, it’s continuing to multiply.

This is what it looks like when indigenous church leaders are equipped and strengthened for the work of the Gospel.

This is our why.

🙏 Would you join us in praying for leaders across South Sudan as they continue planting and strengthening churches?

In Yambio, the local church served Sudanese refugees living in a local refugee camp, many of whom are disabled or elderly.

Families received grains, beans, and soap – and were reminded that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Through the time spent together, 19 people encountered Jesus as their Lord and Savior. ✨

Thank you to everyone who supports this kind of ministry through prayer and generosity. It’s making a real impact. 💛

On the very same day that Mama Mariana understood God’s will for her life and relationships, she urged the younger women around her to hold fast to Him. ⚡

She had experienced pain from many broken relationships and marriages over her life.

When the local church held a women’s conference, she went and heard about God’s covenant faithfulness.

She learned about the importance of building family life on God’s Word.

She understood why obedience matters.

She immediately committed to following God and his intention for her life.

And she shared her story with the younger women at the conference, urging them to follow God from a younger age and allow God to be the center of their homes.

Stories like Mariana’s are made possible through biblical teaching, discipleship, and community outreach of our women’s ministry, and through partners like you. 💜

The greatest gift of a trip to South Sudan is the people you meet.

Last week, seminary students walked alongside a mission team from Shandon Baptist Church as translators, ministry partners, and friends.

Every day looked a little different. We visited church plants, worshiped together, shared meals, taught Bible lessons, played soccer, and had conversations we won’t soon forget.

It was a reminder of how quickly the Holy Spirit creates a sense of family between people from different corners of the world.

While our team was only there for a short time, these men and women continue faithfully serving their communities and discipling those who accepted Christ last week.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share the gospel together, encourage one another, and witness what God is doing through His Church.

Please join us in praying for the seminary students, church leaders, and new believers who are continuing the work. 💙

More than 300 young people gathered in Kajo Keji, South Sudan, for a powerful youth conference.

The youth heard sessions about holiness in their personal lives, godly courtship, and growing to spiritual maturity.

The local churches who sent their members helped provide the food for the conference.

As the Gospel was shared, many made the decision to give their lives to Christ.

We praise God for every story of transformation and for the faithful local leaders who continue to disciple the next generation.

Thank you for praying, giving, and standing alongside this work.

God is moving in South Sudan, and we are grateful to witness what He is doing to raise up a new generation of leaders.

40 students registered to train for ministry at a DTI in a refugee camp. 🌱

This DTI serves students from Sudan, most of whom come from Muslim backgrounds.

They’re being trained in biblical doctrine, discipleship, and church planting – with the prayer that they will go on to serve and plant churches among their own communities.

Our pastors have asked for us to pray for this DTI and its students to “yield good fruits”. 🍊

We hope you will join us in praying for them!

A different photo has been used to preserve the students' security.
