I am so deeply saddened by the world’s loss of one of the finest troubadours….Peabo Bryson. I’ve had the honor and privilege of working with Peabo over the years. He recorded a song with me called “Make It ‘Til Tomorrow” on my project “Find It On The Wings” in 1994. He and I also shared a Hallmark Christmas Recording in 1996.

A gentleman, good, and kind hearted. Peabo, you are dearly loved and you will be greatly missed, my friend.

The response to the new song, “I’m Alright (I’m Okay) has been nothing less than amazing! We didn’t try to reinvent the wheel yet we always try to add a little modern to the mix.

After reading all the comments on YouTube, FB & Instagram, I thought I would address some things so there may be a better understanding of the band, the music and the message:

1 - Lyrics. Some people think we’ve wandered from our faith. Actually quite the opposite. These lyrics are based on my personal battle with cancer and rising above that and no matter what, knowing that I’m Alright. I’m okay. It’s an anthem to anyone who is going through tough times and it is meant to be inspiring and to help others keep the faith during the storm🙏

2 - Music. The whole point of this song was to not try to reinvent the wheel. It was important to stay true to our sound and to keep it more in the classic style of Stryper. We’re not a new band. We’ve been around for 42 years. We broke based on a certain sound/style. Why mess with that? This is who we are🤷‍♂️

3 - The Look. In the new photos we’re wearing primarily black. Why? Because we love our food and black hides that🤣 All kidding aside, as the years go by, we’ve realized that it’s not always practical to have head to toe Y&B outfits made. So, we decided to wear a lot of black. We haven’t gone to the dark side. We’re just more simplified.

4 - This is only one song! There are 10 to go. Every song is different. Every song shares its own style and story. All I can say is wait till you hear the rest! I believe that this is our best album. For many reasons. Obviously time will tell and, that remains to seen (as you all will determine whether my words are fact or fiction). Regardless, I have a really good feeling about this one. I believe you will too once you hear it from top to bottom.

5 - The Band. This is our lineup. This will remain our lineup until we retire. Some people hold onto the past. This is the present. This is the future. This is who we are. We’re happy, passionate, productive, blessed and excited about what’s to come. Some rather amazing things are in store for us and for you! As I say often - The best is yet to come🙏🙌

Thank you all for your undying support and for listening for 42 years!!

Much love & respect,

Michael
