Brian Courtney Wilson - A Great Work (Sirius XM Performance) 10/15/2019

Good morning everyone! I would really love to start this ministry again. However, I have to wait on God's yes. In the meantime, keep us in your prayers. God is doing great things in each of our lives and we always want to be obedient to Him so that His glory reigns. Enjoy your Tuesday!

God whatever you have for this ministry, reveal it. We are listening. We are waiting. Thank you in advance for what you have done, what you are doing now and what you have yet to do. All the glory belongs to you Lord!

A CALL TO PRAYER AND FASTING

“However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Matthew 17:21 (NKJV)

Beloved, the Lord continues to press upon me the need for the 10th District to continue in periodic prayer and fasting. Please join me for a three-day prayer and fast, Thursday, June 23, 2016 through Saturday, June 25, 2016. The fast can be any one that the Lord leads you to do: Daniel Fast, traditional 24 hour fast, sunrise to sunset fast, liquid fast or the elimination of specific food items. Please consult your physician before beginning a fast.

We want to turn to the Lord in Prayer beginning Thursday morning. Our prayer times are early morning, noon and evenings. Daniel turned to the Lord in prayer three times a day away from the ancient versions of emails, texts, calls and challenges. We must do the same (Daniel 6:10).

Daniel also fasted for the fulfillment of God’s promises and received revelations from God (Daniel 10:3). We must do the same.

Ezra the priest fasted for God's protection while carrying valuable things for God's temple. We must fast for God’s protection (Ezra 8:21-23).

Extreme weather, rain, hail, wildfires, heat, hurricanes and flooding has devastated our members, friends and families. There has been a lot of property damage and displacements. Many people lost a few things while others lost everything.

Our country seems to be at the mercy of an unusually repugnant primary election characterized by insults and name-calling. Our nation again mourns for innocent lives lost in an act of domestic terrorism and unprecedented gun violence in Orlando, Florida while at the same time observing the one-year anniversary of the massacre of nine people at Mother Emanuel AME Church in South Carolina and the tragic death of Sandra Bland in police custody in Prairie View, Texas.

I continue to solicit your prayers for my preaching assignment during the World Methodist Council meeting in Houston, Texas.

In a few days, we’ll open the 50th Session of the General Conference of our AME Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We will gather to dialogue, deliberate and decide. I will be doing a prayer presentation on July 11th at 6 am. Please join me in prayer.

We do not confront challenges as those without hope or faith. We handle them according to the word of God. Psalm 5 encourages us to take refuge in the Lord in prayer. We are to pray personally, honestly, persistently, systematically and expectantly. It means making a personal sacrifice to pray daily three times. Seek the Lord, not as a duty but with an earnest desire for God to move in our lives. Pray alone or with your prayer partners and church members. Pray before every worship service, Bible study, meeting or rehearsal.

You can also join the 10th District corporate prayer call at 6 a.m., 12 noon and 6 p.m. daily on June 23rd, 24th and 25th. The prayer call dial-in number is (563) 999-2090 and the participant access code is 482802.

Let’s commit to this for the next three days and conclude our call to prayer and fasting with an altar prayer on Sunday.

If somehow you got this message late, begin your three days right away.

I believe the Lord will hear and answer our prayer. Speak Lord! Surprise us with your miraculous power to save, heal, deliver, fix, work out and make right!

What are we praying for?
1. Protection – People and property
2. Provision – Restoration and renewal
3. Deliverance – Deliver us from evil
4. Restoration – Restore unto us the years the locust have eaten…(Joel 2: 25)
We’re praying for our Episcopal leaders, presiding elders, pastors, preachers, people, local congregations and surrounding community.

For those congregations that currently engage in regularly scheduled corporate prayer, please continue at your regularly scheduled time and add these petitions to your prayer lists.

“But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
Psalm 5: 11-12 (NIV)

By the Grace of God,

Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie
