Although I don't follow Reverb Nation very closely, a client just informed me that I'm ranked #1 in all genres in the Dallas Ft. Worth area, out of around 1100 acts.

As Christmas 2024 approaches, JOMUSIK
is rolling along, enjoying an array of new gear including a Mac Pro M2, an Imac M3, lots of new software including Superior Drummer, Native Complete 15, and lots more. We just completed producing a new musical for Diane Beckstead in Pittsburgh, have some last minute Christmas tunes, and the normal flow of songs and production work. Hope to see you in 2025, if not before.

Well, my friend Charles Carter sang Kamalalalalalalala, and I thought I can do something with this. I wrote the lyric, then called my favorite musician in the world, Wally Minko, and he delivered the piano track in about 1 day. Coughed up some vocals and a mix, called my friend Harry Hewlett who whipped me up a video in about 1 day, and here it is! Check it out, and tell all your friends if you like it! Even if you don"t!!!

I’m often asked “where should I spend my limited budget, or should I get my tunes mixed professionally?” Sometimes also “is it that much different to cut my tunes in a studio?” If your fluent with a digital workstation, a lot can be done at home. When cutting anything live, it takes some major investment and a good physical space to compete, including a quiet AC, room treatment, and great mics, compressors, and converters. Getting a pro mix can really make a huge difference, regardless of the quality of the tracks. A producer you like can also make a huge difference.
One of my clients graciously agreed to let me use his tune as an example. He has a nice setup at home, and good knowledge and experience to boot. He brought a couple of tunes to JOMUSIK to mix and tweak. Besides gear, getting another set of ears on your stuff can make quite a difference. And it’s hard to compete with someone that does this all day long, every day. Lots of nuance that one might never encounter otherwise.
