The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame mourns the passing of Hall of Fame quarterback Sonny Jurgensen.

A 1971 inductee, Jurgensen was a standout at New Hanover High School, led Duke to two ACC titles and an Orange Bowl victory and became an NFL legend in Washington and Philadelphia. His jersey was retired in Washington, and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1983.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who admired his remarkable life and career.
