Dallas is about to turn into “Dallaska” this weekend, and with the upcoming winter weather, there are a few important things to keep in mind regarding your pool equipment.

For all of our weekly service customers, we have already inspected your pool equipment and confirmed that it is functioning properly and prepared for the colder temperatures ahead.

The following information is important for all pool owners and can help minimize the risk of freeze-related damage.

1. Keep Your Equipment Running Continuously
Your pool equipment should run non-stop until temperatures remain consistently above freezing. Most systems are equipped with a freeze-protection feature that automatically turns the pumps on when temperatures drop below a certain point.

If your system does not have freeze protection, or if you are unsure, we recommend manually turning your equipment on to run 24 hours a day as soon as possible. If you need help doing this, please message us and we will walk you through the process.

Even with freeze protection enabled or manual operation, we strongly recommend checking your equipment periodically to ensure it is still running.

2. In the Event of a Power Outage
If you lose power, it is important to:

-Pull all drain plugs on your pool equipment to remove as much water as possible from the equipment and any above-ground plumbing

- Turn off the breaker to the pool equipment after draining

If you are unsure how to do this, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we are happy to guide you step by step.

3. Maintain Proper Water Level
Please make sure your pool water level is at the appropriate level as soon as possible.

Do not drain water from your pool, as doing so can cause issues with your pool equipment.

4. Do Not Cover Pool Equipment

We do **not** recommend covering pool equipment. Coverings can create a fire hazard, and unfortunately, we have seen fires caused by this in the past. While there are many photos and ideas circulating online for covering or insulating equipment, the safest and most effective way to avoid damage is to follow the steps outlined above.
