No bottle required!

With the average American using 11 bottles of shampoo a year, these large, bulky plastic containers are a significant contributor to many households' annual waste.

How many plastic bottles are in the ocean? The number of plastic bottles in the sea is unknown, but over 250 billion were not recycled. Around 8-9 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year. That's the equivalent of a garbage truck emptying plastic into the ocean every single minute.

If every person just swapped one single plastic bottle from their life for a more sustainable option, think of the impact that could make!
Maybe you're not ready to replace your conditioner or hair mask that comes in a plastic bottle, but maybe you could replace the shampoo bottle with a bar? Thats on average 11 plastic bottles a year you would be keeping out of the ocean! Links in Comments!

While searching for small side tables for my LR, I started looking for spindle tables. I love the interest they create, and the nod to a more classic/traditional style, but fitting right in with the eclectic home we've created.

Happy Monday! Heres this weeks simple swap to help you reduce your footprint. This was a really easy swap for me. I love my toothpaste tablets, especially for traveling. i don't have to go purchase one of those tiny toothpaste tubes, and i don't have to worry about the paste getting squeezed out all over my toiletries if I check my bag. Did you know 1.5 billion toothpaste tubes are discarded worldwide each year, and those tubes end up in landfills or worse, in our precious oceans. 10 million tons of plastic are dumped in our oceans annually - that's equal to more than a garbage truckload every min. Most toothpaste tubes aren't recyclable.

According to the American Dental Association, one billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away each year in the United States, creating 50 million pounds of waste.
