Watermark Music
Grateful is out now! Watermark Music is a collective of worship leaders, songwriters, and artists from Watermark Community Church in Dallas, TX.
We exist to write and record music that is rich in Truth for the edification and discipleship of our church. Our greatest desire is that the Word of Christ would dwell richly within us as we seek to teach, admonish, and encourage our people through the writing and singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in our hearts to God (Colossians 3:16).

Hey guys, Josh here!
I get the honor of leading for most of our College, High School, and Junior High ministries and events. Something I remind the students often of (and myself at the same time) is the privilege it is to sing songs and commune with the God of the Universe together through melody. Often congregational worship can feel like a formality, time-killer, an obligation, or something we have to do because we have always done it. But that is so wrong! We get a short amount of time together to put into melody and lyric what Scripture says and to sing love songs to Him. We are told to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Singing is such an easy way to connect what we know to be true in our mind and heart and allow our soul to understand it and believe it too. Few things in this world can pierce a soul or melt a heart of stone like a song. It is such a gift to partake and participate with the body in this way each week!

Hey guys, Jon Abel here.
This post is for all you worship leaders. I’m not a “math guy” but out of curiosity, I recently did the math to figure out the cumulative amount of time we have leading songs at our churches in a given year. (1 service per week) On average, we have around 25 minutes of music a week times 52 weeks a year which amounts to approximately 21 hours of time per year that we get to lead our churches in song. 21 HOURS A YEAR!! When I thought about it that way, that time became much more valuable and precious and has motivated me to be more purposeful in how I use it.
I know we’d all agree that as worship leaders leading God’s people, the best thing we can offer them is God’s Word. That said, let’s set that bar high! Let’s be intentional to write and/or lead songs that are rich in God’s Word. What else is living, active, God-breathed, and flawless? What else penetrates our souls and spirits, lights our paths, and endures forever? What else is perfect, leads to life, and sets us free? We have an opportunity to use our gifts of music to remind, teach and build up the Body of Christ with strong theology. Friends, let’s not waste the precious time we’ve been entrusted with to do that.

Hey everyone, Hayden here. A verse that his been on my mind a lot recently is Psalm 73:28 “But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.”
â€â€
A way I experience the nearness of God is when I listen to songs about him. I’m super grateful for our songs and many others that not only tell of all his works, but that also draw me near to God.

… Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith — that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Hey guys, Davy Flowers here!
Got some thoughts stirring in my heart today about worship… Authentic worship encompasses all of life. Heart, soul, mind strength. Every corner, every categroy, every moment. The Lord makes it very clear that He doesnt just want to be one in the list of all our other priorities. He wants to be the very framework into which all our other priorities fit - in terms of how we spend our time, talents and resources - the person of Christ and the mission of Christ are to be that which we filter all other priorities through. Our devotion has to be embodied in the lives that we live, not only in the messages that we preach or the songs that we sing. Off the clock. Behind closed doors. When the music fades and the lights turn off. What do our lives say about the One we claim to know, love and serve?
