You may know I started my career in food banking over twenty years ago. Food insecurity, and in particular, childhood and now, senior hunger, is an important part of my life, both personally and professionally.
When General Mills, in partnership with No Kid Hungry reached out about participating in their challenge, I immediately said yes. This "tower" of boxes represent the toppling impact the pandemic has had on food insecurity. But, the cereal within represents hope that every child in America will have access to delicious and nutritious food, like cereal, every single day.

I talked with reporter Jobin Panicker WFAA about the importance of food safety as Texans begin to recover from power outages, burst pipes, flooding, and more.
'When in doubt, throw it out': Texans grapple with expenses after food, fuel and water issues arise "You cannot tell if your food is safe by smelling it. When in doubt, throw it out," said dietician Robin Plotkin.

When in doubt, throw it out.
As many begin to thaw out from the winter storm in Texas, please, please read below for how to eat safely after a power outage.
Food in a refrigerator only stays good for 4 hours without opening the doors. Most of us were without power for much longer than that.
Don’t add food poisoning to your adventures this week or next week. Food in the freezer can hold safe temperatures for 24-48 hours.
***You can safely refreeze or cook thawed frozen food if it still has ice crystals on it or is still below 40°.
