Teaching kids about photography is a great way to help them develop a genuine interest and appreciation for what’s going on around them. When your child has a camera to play with during a family vacation, you don’t just get a second set of vacation photos taken with a fresh new set of eyes—you also have a child who is less bored and, ultimately, more engaged.

Newborn portraiture is a take on portrait photography. Only the subjects are often less than two weeks old.

Newborn portraits are about capturing this beautiful moment before the child grows up. Soon enough they will start asking for pocket money and borrow the car.

Newborn photography is a genre that focuses on capturing newborn babies. It is the only area of photography where the photographer needs to have the well being of the subject as the main priority. Safety is key.

The great thing is, you will have parents who can act as your assistants, holding and posing the baby. They can also make them laugh, and put them back to sleep.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t invest in a few pieces of equipment to help this process.

Different seasons of the year will offer completely different photoshoot backdrops. It’s helpful to know the client’s preferences so that the photographer can make suggestions on the location.

Keep in mind that locations such as orchards and wildflower fields are strictly seasonal with a very short blossom period. Plan to schedule such photoshoots at specific times to not miss the opportunity for the optimal shoot time.

Lets face it—our lives would have been so much easier if our parents had taught us about conscious creation from the time we were little.

We can’t blame our parents—most of them didn’t even know the law of attraction existed. But you don’t have to make that mistake with your children.

Each photoshoot requires preparation time from both the photographer and the parents. A strong communication line must be established between them to get optimal results from the kid’s photoshoot. Photographer will be discussing a child’s personality and talents, photoshoot location ideas, outfit choices, prop options, and everything else in between.

Before you start shooting, you must have a general idea of the child’s personality and preferences. Find out from the parent what children like and dislike, whether they play sports or have a favorite toy. These types of details will significantly help during photoshoot time. It will give you something fun to talk about with the kid, and keep them more engaged in the photo-taking process.
