Briefcase Blues
From 1983 to today (43 YEARS) with a ten piece band - and "The Mission is The Music" to this day! The first ever Blues Brothers tribute band, still going.
Making MUSIC - not just playing songs in costumes.

Got a call last night from a good friend in Virginia - Billy Sturgis (owner of one the "Bluesmobiles" from the movie "The Blues Brothers 2000" - got stories to tell about that). He's working as a show-runner at he James Taylor concert tonight at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach. Guess who's the horn man for Baby James? … "Blue Lou" Lou Marini! (met him back in '83 when I first started Briefcase Blues – he told me to "go for it", and I've stuck to it ever since).
Didn't get a call back from Lou – we both got each other's digits anyway… rock on, Billy, James and Lou!
Listening to some JT right now.

Well look who blew into town yesterday - Kyle Rowland of Rowland & Tumblin' ... AND the part of Elwood for Briefcase Blues (here's a pic from a Chicago show we did). He and fiancée Christina were intent on getting him fitted for an "Elwood suit" at Roberts Ready To Wear shop in South Dallas. But wouldn't you know it - the store was closed for family business this weekend. Anyway, we met there and took these snaps.
Briefcase Blues is alive and kickin'!

Just got this sent from longtime friend and magician / comedian and filmmaker Adam Steinfeld - a piece of original art, based on a photo taken at our Chicago appearance last year!
It's great to have friends like Adam (he was there when we first founded the band in 1983), and this shows that Briefcase Blues is "art-worthy" in more ways than one. It's more than a band; it's all about MAKING music, making entertainment - and that is art. We are honoured, Adam old friend. 😎❤😎
Here is the GRAND FINALE - Jake, Elwood and the Blues Girls go to ACAPULCO! The last scenes were shot at the Acapulco Airport and inside a Volkswagen "Bug" cab (all four in the back seat) ... we all had a great time!
The next logical step - traveling companions! Two girls who decide to join with Jake and Elwood on their quest to Mexico for the Gambrinus Chili Cook-Off!
The next scene was filmed at The Great American Beer Festival in Denver CO - and at the Spoetzl Brewing Company in Shiner TX. Damn, we drank a lot of beer for this segment ...

Special thanks to Aram Doroff (our bassist at the time) for being in this scene with Bill Hamilton (guitar), Charlie Lowe (keys) and Gonzy Trevino (drums).
The next stop: LUNCH at GENO'S in Philly, and a taste of FREEDOM!
The next installment - the Chili Cook-Off Challenge!
