"Hello everyone! It’s a new year, is back, and we want to hear your stories. Our is all about and overcoming presentation . All types of submissions are welcome–articles, how-to’s, personal stories, photography, artwork and anything in between!

What does “spring cleaning” mean to you, and how do you spring clean? How do you deal with–or prevent–burnout? As qualifying exams and WIPs approach, what presentation advice do you wish someone would’ve told you? When choosing a thesis committee, what do you look for in a committee member?

Submissions are due March 13th, and our editors will work with you to polish your piece before it goes to publication. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at [email protected]."

"In the midst of an atypical holiday season, many of us are (virtually) leaning on our communities more than usual, as best as we can. While there is a lot about this holiday season—and 2020 in general—to be disappointed about, there’s also plenty to be grateful for. Our graduate student community is one of those things.

Through our first holiday edition of microSCOPE, we aim to spread a bit of joy and comfort. It’s a difficult conclusion to a challenging year, but that makes it even more important to appreciate the support of those around us. We hope your holidays are safe and happy, and we’ll see you in 2021!

You asked for it, and you got it! Due to election stress last week, we have decided to extend our submission deadline to this weekend!

What are you worried about for the holidays? What are you looking forward to? What are you going to change this year? How will the Holidays look different while ? How will you stay connected if you are not going home? WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

may look different this year for most, so it's important more than ever that we stay connected! What's a better way to learn more about the cultures and homes of our students than through food??

Along with our upcoming newsletter, will be taking holiday recipe submissions until the end of December! If you have a recipe you'd like to share, please submit it with an attached photo of the finished dish using our NEW link in our bio!
Pictures of finished dishes can be DM'ed to us to be featured on our social media pages!

We hope recreating these recipes could be a fun (and safe) way to fellowship with our peers wherever they spend the holidays!

is proud to introduce “Under the Lens,” a new series in which we spotlight individual students and their stories on our social media. We hope that these brief snippets of life will inspire our peers and shed light on the day-to-day going-ons of UTSW graduate students.

Kicking off is James Raynard Dizon, a first-year PhD student with his thoughts on starting graduate school during a global pandemic.

We know that this holiday season may look different for some as we return home after months of quarantine, spend the holidays here in Dallas, find time for ourselves for the first time in months, explore Texas, and navigate working (or not!) during the holidays! We want to hear from YOU!

Experiences, tips, recommendations, and advice are all welcomed! As always, we accept all forms of submissions including how-to's, written pieces, pictures, short movies, etc.!

Here's a copy of microSCOPE's first newsletter titled the "First Year Edition" for those who missed it or didn't get the email.

"We really wanted to speak to our first-years, who are starting graduate school amidst unusual circumstances. Beginning graduate school is difficult enough as is, without the added stress of a pandemic and its subsequent restrictions. Despite the challenges our first-years face, we believe our student body has a wealth of knowledge to help ease their transition into graduate school."
