Do you have any Persian Spire Parriota trees?
Good morning Melissa, here are some close ups
of the tree that I asked to have identified..Thank you!
This is the tree that I just sent a message in regard,
I would like to know what it is..please and thank you
We found the golden egg!! Thank you so much for the Hy-Vee gift card! As a college student, this will definitely be helpful!
We walked our dogs at the arboretum today and our husky broke off her leash at around 12pm. Her name is Viva and sheโ€™s a 40 pound husky, black/grey and white. She was following the creek for a while and perhaps was on her way to Adel. If anyone spots her, We would appreciate an alert. Sheโ€™s a friendly log and loves to receive pets.
Amazing sights at the Arboretum this morning after the freezing fog cleared and the sun illuminated nature's handiwork!
Good day to be out there.

Always beautiful and always peaceful. โค๏ธ
How are the trails after rain this week?
Pecan nut crop still hanging in the tree

CAN YOU FIND THE GOLDEN EGG?
Clue to Egg #11: Beauty lessons from a tree:
Exfoliation is so important! You'll notice I'm constantly peeling.
Hydration is critical! That's why I prefer to live near water.
Don't be afraid to accessorize! Throughout the year you'll find me adorned with as many as 400(!) different kinds of butterflies and moths. They love to feast on my foliage.

Once you find the golden egg, take a picture of it and your fellow egg-hunters. Post it to Facebook and be sure to tag @TheBrentonArboretum so we know it's been found. Open the egg to claim your prize!

Just say NO to Callery & Bradford Pears

Spring is a great time to remind your friends NOT to plant Callery pears. Also known by the common name "Bradford" pear, these non-native ornamental trees are lovely when in bloom, but are becoming a serious threat to native woodlands by escaping cultivation and crowding out native trees.

Unfortunately, Callery-type pears are still commonly available at nurseries and garden centers. Besides 'Bradford,' you might find cultivars of ๐˜—๐˜บ๐˜ณ๐˜ถ๐˜ด ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜บ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ข named "Aristocrat," "Chanticleer," "Cleveland Select," or "Autumn Blaze;" all of which should be avoided.

So skip they Callerys and opt for fantastic flowering alternatives like crabapple, serviceberry, magnolia, or redbud. You can also feel safe to plant traditional ๐˜ง๐˜ณ๐˜ถ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ pears in your orchard, these are a different species and not prone to becoming invasive.
