Michael J. Peters Photography
Greetings! I'm Mike, and I absolutely love photography--practicing it, talking about it, studying it

I have finally updated my portraiture photography page on my website with recent portrait samples. Enjoy... http://michaeljpeters.com/fineartportraiture
Portraiture — Michael J. Peters With these photographs, we will attempt to capture you in the places where you love to be, doing the things you love to do in order to tell the deeper story of who you are. From this 2 to 3 hour session, we will endeavour to produce 12 to 15 carefully-crafted, ambient-light images in 2 to 3 location...

Can a dead sunflower be taller than an abandoned, monolithic grain silo? What is the significance of a shadow cross flung across a sun-strewn wall and a tire that perches precariously in the antenna-like appendages of a dormant sapling? "Huh? I ... I don't know that," as the Bridgekeeper at the Bridge of Death would have said before being flung to his doom, "Auuuuuuuuuugh!" (think Monty Python). Yes, well, anyway ... These above questions can be pondered whilst beholding two of my newest prints (color, no less!) currently hanging in the March Madness show at the Robbin Gallery in Robbinsdale just a couple blocks east of Hwy 100. I am very excited, myself, to attend the opening reception this Friday night from 7 to 9 PM ... even if a moose never did once bite my sister. See more here: http://michaeljpeters.com/events/
You still have a chance to win by signing up for our e-newsletter! The 82nd person to sign up wins an 8” x 10” fine art photo printed on aluminum—it would make a great gift if nothing else! Sign up on our website: MichaelJPeters.com/contact.
"O Art, Art! Wherefore Art Thou Art?"
Our first musings and moanings.
us8.campaign-archive1.com A tiny, wee publication dedicated to the artistic aspirations, musings and moanings of Michael J. Peters.
Finally! A news publication wholly dedicated to my artworks. And I know you’re all saying, “Well, it’s about time!” But, it’s not about time, it’s about my art. Sorry. We call it, “O Art, Art! Wherefore Art Thou Art!” The name may change tomorrow if we come to our senses, but don’t count on it. However, with most of the kidding aside, we would love it if you opted in to this once in a lifetime opportunity to get updates about my art and the events surrounding it. Sign up on our website: MichaelJPeters.com/contact. The 82nd person to sign up wins a free 8” x 10” metal print of their choice (as long as I have the one you want and am willing to part with it, naturally).
In case you have nothing better to do tomorrow...
To all my dearly devoted patrons of the arts: First, thank you to all of you who made it out on Saturday in the rain to the Art on the Lawn show in Robbinsdale—I am very grateful that you came.
Second, this Saturday, July 19, I will be exhibiting my archival inkjet infused aluminum photographic prints at the 41st Annual Stockholm Art Fair (http://stockholmartfair.org/) in, none-other-than, Stockholm, Wisconsin, itself. This event is truly unique, truly a spectacle, truly exhilarating to attend. The food, the music, the arts and crafts, the river, the trains, the sweaty crowds, the impossible parking, the shops, the posters—everything comes together to make this show a show that no one would willingly miss who’s experienced it before. So, gas on up, drive on down, and make this Saturday a Saturday to remember =) Oh yes, and please, buy some art ;-)
Here’s how to get there:

Whoops! Due to unforeseen circumstances (well, to own the truth--I spaced out and missed the submission deadline =P ), I will not be participating in the month-long member show at the Robbin Gallery. HOWEVER ... I will still be showing my photographs on Saturday, this Saturday, at the Robbin Gallery's Art on the Lawn one-day art show event. So come on down, or up, or whatever direction takes you to Robbinsdale and have a gander. It promises to be an exhillarating event =)
Hey art lovers (and no, I’m not referring to all you Art Garfunkel fans). If you’re in the Robbinsdale area and you feel so inclined, I will be participating in a group art exhibition at the Robbin Art Gallery (http://www.robbingallery.org/) from July 9th to the 27th. I will be showing three of my photographs there. The open reception is scheduled for Friday, July 11th from 6 to 8 PM, which I plan to attend. The next day, Saturday, July 12th, is their Art on the Lawn event—a small art fair on their grounds that I am participating in from 9 AM to 3 PM, as well.
These are some of my top picks from a very fun photo shoot I did last October with a very fun family. Lots of energy, lots of creativity, lots of laughs—it’s shoots like these that make portrait photography so enjoyable for me. We shot these photos just a few blocks north of downtown Minneapolis, a great spot providing diverse and unexpected backdrops for portraits. The mother of this family, Shannon, is herself a talented portrait photographer, so I was both honored and humbled that she would ask me to make portraits of her lovely family.
Here are some of my favorite photos from a senior portrait session I shot last fall with Rolf. If you, or anyone you know, needs unique, art-centric, life-story portraits, then please, give me a shout. I am working at building my photography business in order to support my growing family. Thanks!
Got nothing better to do this weekend? Wanna see some beautiful countryside with beautiful art scattered around it? Join us for the 2014 Spring Fresh Art Tour. I’ll be showing my “On Pepin’s Shore” fine art, film photographs at Diane Millner’s Studio, Site # 3 on the tour, W9977 Goatback Road, Pepin WI—it’s about an hour and a half from the Twin Cities. For more information: www.FreshArt.org

Come see me and my photographs in an art show—June 6, 7 & 8! I always enjoy sharing my work with others. I get such great feedback and encouragement, even from perfect strangers. I've been invited to be a guess exhibitor for the Spring Fresh Art Tour, an annual art crawl that takes place around my wife’s hometown of Stockholm, WI—it’s about an hour and a half from the Twin Cities. I’ll be at Diane Millner’s Studio, Site # 3, W9977 Goatback Road, Pepin, WI. I’ll be showing recent photos from my series entitled, “On Pepin’s Shore: Film photographs that portray the beauty of the land in and around Stockholm.” The Fresh Art Tour is Friday, Saturday and Sunday—June 6, 7 and 8, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Hope to see you there! For more information: www.FreshArt.org

Hey Texans! Looking to have some Spring-time portraits made?
My wife, kids and I are driving down to the Dallas, Texas area this next week, Monday March 25th through Friday, March 29th, and to make the trip somewhat more affordable, I decided to try and get some portrait photography work while I’m there. We even got our Texas sales permit! So, if you’re interested in either a fine art film portrait session ($382 + tax) or digital portrait session ($82 / half hour, $123 / full hour; both + tax) at or near your location (near Dallas), then contact me and let’s figure out what will work for you.
