Are you a candidate for Ketamine Infusion Therapy?

Dr. Ramis Gheith serves as the medical director of Interventional Pain Institute in St Louis, Missouri, where patients can undergo various advanced treatments including ketamine infusion therapy.

Ketamine is an anesthetic that Anesthesiologists traditionally administer to patients before surgical procedures. Today, interventional pain expert, Dr Gheith, uses Ketamine to provide significant pain relief to patients suffering from refractory nerve pain.

Dr. Ramis Gheith and his team of physicians can administer Ketamine to offer pain relief to people with chronic pain conditions including Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and other neuropathic pain conditions.

Ketamine also benefits people with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Ketamine infusion therapy involves infusing a low dose of ketamine into patients intravenously, an effective method of delivering ketamine into the body. Once infused, it is believed that the anesthetic blocks N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors stationed along the body’s pain receptors, inhibiting pain sensations.

The therapy is administered as an in-office treatment. The length of time of treatment as well as the number of treatments a patient requires will depend on the severity of the patient’s condition.

Despite its efficacy, ketamine infusion therapy is not approved by the FDA for chronic pain, hence it is not covered by insurance. It remains a self-pay procedure.

Ramis Gheith, MD, FASA, is the founder and medical director of the Interventional Pain Institute. An expert in interventional pain management and a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Gheith offers interventional pain management therapies.

Chronic pain in areas such as the back and the neck may require advanced therapies like radiofrequency ablation (RFA).

Radiofrequency ablation is most frequently discussed with individuals with long-term lower back and neck pain originating from arthritic joints and/or whiplash injuries (ie. car accidents, work injuries or sport injuries). The minimally invasive RFA procedure focuses on heating up small areas of nerve tissue using an electrical current generated by radio waves. RFA aims to stop the pain signals being sent to the brain from the affected area. The risk of serious complications from RFA are very low due to the use of advanced technology in a safe and expert environment.

When radiofrequency ablation is deemed appropriate, the procedure can be done during an office visit under mild anesthesia. Guided by real time XRay images, a thin needle is inserted into the impacted area. Next, a numbing agent is applied and a small radiofrequency current is delivered to burn the nerve and reduce transmission of pain signals. Some post-procedure pain is expected, but patients typically return to their normal activities over the course of one to three days.

Although many patients experience post RFA pain relief, the degree and duration of relief varies based on the source of pain.
Regenerative Medicine is another way to help you heal with use of PRP. Dr. Ramis Gheith serves as the medical director of the Interventional Pain Institute in Missouri. An expert in the field of interventional pain management, he has been serving patients in the St. Louis area for over a decade. Dr. Gheith and his team at IPI are qualified to perform advanced treatments such as regenerative therapies involving platelet-rich plasma injections (PRP).

Regenerative medicine develops methods to heal tissue and restore function lost due to injury or aging. Aside from binding together or clotting the blood when bleeding occurs, platelet cells trigger growth and play a significant role in the healing process. Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a type of regenerative medicine that utilizes a concentration of the patient’s platelets along with their body’s natural healing ability. PRP injections are prepared by drawing the patient’s blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to collect the concentrated platelets. PRP injections are often guided by ultrasound and administered directly into the affected area.

Although many patients experience almost immediate relief after platelet-rich plasma treatment, the results for treatment of joint pain are most noticeable after several weeks, and the degree of relief will vary.
Millions of Americans suffer from chronic pain and awareness of this disease is vital for those patients to get the care they need. It is a daily battle for those who suffer and I want you to know that interventional pain management experts are here to help all across our great nation!

Let’s celebrate the achievements in the management of chronic disabling pain!

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS/RSD) is a disabling and life altering disease affecting millions of Americans!

November is #CRPS awareness month- please help bring more awareness to this chronic and severely painful condition!

Prognosis of this disease is highly dependent on timely treatment. Physicians and patients need help to bring more awareness to this painful condition and unite against insurance denials for treatment! Unfortunately, even some “pain doctors” have sold out to the insurance carriers and their third party cronies that deny much needed care for patients suffering from chronic disabling pain! This has lead to the fueling of the opioid epidemic (you know who you are- God will judge you)!

God bless our patients and their families who suffer along with them.

Unite to fight the inappropriate denials much too common these days! #CRPS #Unite #suicideprevention #patients #healthcare #treatment #InterventionalPainInstitute #IPI #RamisGheithMD #Pain #PainManagement #PainFellow #Anesthesiogist #saintlouis #Chesterfield #Festus #bestdoctormagazine #pain #backpain #spine

We strive for excellence in pain management and provide care in a compassionate and safe environment. We understand patients in chronic pain may be frustrated with the process of being seen at a medical facility. Unfortunately this process may be slowed by regulatory laws and expectations. However, this is not a reason for belligerent behavior which may pose a threat to patient safety and/ or staff.
