Eight ducklings. 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆
Ducks grow so fast! Some teacher friends hatched these ducklings in their classrooms and then donated them to the farm. We have one Blue Swedish, one Black Swedish, one Mallard, and four Runners (I think!). We’ve only had Pekins and Blue Swedish ducks at the farm before, so some of these breeds are new to me.
Did you know that some people who are allergic to chicken eggs can eat duck eggs without any issues? I have several customers who buy duck eggs for that very reason! 🦆🥚
The ducks are almost full grown!!!
This year hasn’t been the best for the farm. We’ve lost some chickens to predators and some chicks to coccidia due to the wet weather. We also lost almost our entire bantam flock and were left with only three bantams in the pen. So we let those three broody hens hatch the eggs they laid. They’ve turned out to be excellent mothers and have been hatching chicks this week.
The geese are doing great! They’re so friendly—I hope they stay this way. They’re getting so big, but they still follow me wherever I go.

Late layers this evening. Usually everyone’s done laying by 4:00. We were moving some chick grow outs around and were out a few minutes ago. I thought this was perfect…one of each color.
