Devotion for the day: Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. I never quite understood this verse until June of 2020. My dad passed away and there was truly a peace I couldn’t understand. I kept thinking ”I should be more upset” but God’s peace was so strong, it was almost palpable. His peace was there again in June 2021 when my mother-in-law passed away. I saw things that day that I had never seen. It was tough but the peace was there! We go through life experiencing turmoil, whether it is death, abuse problems, financial issues, sickness….but when we are in the middle of the storm, God will provide His peace! We see sadness every day, whether we are directly involved or not and sometimes it becomes quite a heavy burden to carry….God, on the other hand, sees the BIG picture…one that we likely don’t understand. Ask God to provide His peace. He surely will! Have a good Wednesday!
Devotion for the day: I (Carolyn) just had a conversation with someone who had reconnected with a friend…the friend was poor years ago but now has lots of money. It got me thinking….What is our perception of money? Do we feel superior when we are in the presence of a millionaire? Perhaps YOU ARE the millionaire. Does that give you a sense of superiority? Maybe you feel inferior…maybe it depends on the person you’re with. Regardless, remember this: Deuteronomy 10:17 says God accepts NO BRIBES! We can’t buy God to be on our side. He shows no partiality! He doesn’t care what you have in possessions. Acts 10:34, Peter says ”God is no respecter of persons”. In other words, God does not show favoritism. One of the devil’s tools is to make us feel inferior, he wants us to covet what others have. We must resist that because it will take our focus off God! We are all royalty regardless of our bank accounts if we belong to the King! Have a great snowy Monday!
Luke 2:11 - Today, in the City of David, A SAVIOR has been born! He IS Christ the Lord! In the hustle-bustle of the next few days, take a moment or two or an hour and remember the reason for the season…JESUS! It’s all because of Him! Merry CHRISTmas!

Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I AM with thee. Be not dismayed; for I AM thy God. I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of MY righteousness. YEA can be replaced with INDEED or TRULY. Reread that verse with those words! God will ABSOLUTELY do what He says! Have a wonderful Sunday!
Devotion for Wednesday: (Written by Carolyn). I was having a conversation today with someone who was telling me about the struggles of life and ended the conversation with ”I need to get back to church”. It got me thinking….how important IS it to go to church? Well, what does the Bible say about church. We all know Hebrews 10:25 - we should not forsake the assembly and we can encourage one another….but we can do that anywhere. Then I looked at 1st Corinthians 12:27 - “ye are the body of Christ”….WE…the church! That’s pretty important but then….as I always do….I look at what JESUS did! Luke 4:16 - “And HE (Jesus) came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and as His custom was, HE went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.” The verses after 16 go on to talk about Jesus reading from the book of Isaiah but our focus right now is on the words AS HIS CUSTOM WAS. In other words, on Sunday, Jesus went to church! My goal in life is to be more like Jesus! So…YES, we need to be in church whenever we can! Our Christian walk is not a one time deal, it is something we work on every single day and we NEED church to help us grow spiritually! In order to be like Jesus, we must FOLLOW Him! And HE went to church on Sundays! Have a good Wednesday!
Let God fight your battle today!
Sometimes we have to muddle through them! Keep on going! Trust in the Lord with ALL THINE HEART!
Devotion for Monday: Psalms 91:2 - “I will say of the Lord, HE is my refuge and my fortress; my God; In Him I will trust.” We are under attack! Hold TIGHT to God! There is a song that states ”when all I see is the Cross, You, God, see the empty tomb”. May we remember that as we battle. HE IS IN CONTROL! Have a good Monday!
Devotion for the Day: Have you ever been discouraged? Sometimes life gets difficult. We can take one upset every once in awhile but what happens when there are three, four, maybe five upsets going on in one day? Have you ever been there? The answer is probably YES! Personally, I've been pushed to the limits....or so I think. All different kinds of life struggles have been in my world....and I find myself thinking....I can't do all this! And then BAM.....you're discouraged....You're feeling sorry for yourself. You're moaning and groaning and complaining. Have you ever been there? Probably so! When you find yourself in a discouraged mood, turn to Psalm 16. Read the whole chapter, it's only 11 verses but let's focus on verse 8. "I have set the Lord always before me because HE is at my right hand, I shall not be moved." Stand firm! Don't let it get you down! Let God's Word encourage us. Look at Isaiah 41:10: "Fear thou not for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God, I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Let that RIGHT HAND of God encourage you! He's telling us it's available to us...we just have to reach out and grab it! Have a good Saturday!
Deuteronomy 13:4 - “Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear Him, and keep His commandments, and obey His voice, and ye shall serve Him, and cleave unto Him.” Serve the Lord today! You won’t regret it! Join us at 10:50 for worship service! See you there!
Luke 24:5-6 - “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is RISEN”. Serve a RISEN Savior! His name is Jesus Christ! Come join us this morning at The Crewe Church of The Nazarene! Worship service starts at 10:50.
Luke 23:34 - Jesus said “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do”. The day HE died for YOU....YOU were on his mind. Have you thought about that today? Praise the name of Jesus right now! He was willing to give HIS life for yours! Luke 23:43 - Jesus said unto the thief “Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt though be with me in paradise”. He gave his life for that thief on the cross. That thief did not get to live for Him any longer but we are! Live your life for Jesus Christ! Hope you’re having a Good Friday!
Devotion for the day: Last week, someone very dear to me told me a story about a phone call they had from an individual (CEO of a company) who was very berating, accusatory and just downright rude and mean. The person telling me said they had never been talked to like that in their life. It got me thinking. What does the Bible say about people who are in those “upper” positions. The setting: The Last Supper. The speaker: Jesus! Luke 22:26 is our focus verse but start reading at 24. The disciples are arguing over who is “the greatest”. Jesus says in verse 26 - “...The greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.” King James version - ”...he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.” In other words...there is no difference. God does not look at one person as “greater” than another. The two people on that phone call are equal in God’s sight. To God, it doesn’t matter what the paychecks look like, what position they have, or even the size of their house or bank account. What matters is the heart! Is the heart a servant’s heart? Is the heart full of love? Is the heart right with God? We may be berated on this Earth but don’t let that fill your heart with hate. Be like the person who is dear to me....respond in love. No matter how much your blood is boiling, respond in love! I’m happy to say that’s exactly what they did and maybe they made an impact on that CEO. Have a good Saturday!
Jesus!!!! There's something about that name! Focus on that name this week!!
Devotion: Think on this: When are we the strongest? Is it when we‘re in the gym? When we are physically working? Maybe it’s when we are confident. Or we think we know all the answers. The truth is...we are stronger WHEN WE ARE ON OUR KNEES! Phillipians 4:6 says “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by PRAYER and SUPPLICATION with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God”. We have the most strength when we turn to God! Flex those muscles next time you’re on your knees! Have a good Tuesday night!

Good morning!! As we face another day of bad weather....I was reminded by Pastor Tabitha (from our sister church in Victoria) of this: The blood of Jesus will never lose its power. Many of us are in the dark but this is a good reminder.... there IS and ALWAYS WILL BE power in HIS blood!! (Thanks Tabitha)

Since there are no services today....let’s enjoy a quick devotion. (Written by Carolyn) Does God REALLY care about us? I mean...really? Let’s take a look at what the Bible says. First Peter 5:7 - Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you! Luke 12:7 - But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore ye are of more value than many sparrows. And my favorite - Deuteronomy 3:22 - Ye shall not fear them: For the Lord your God shall fight for you. Who are you willing to FIGHT for? God is willing to fight for us! Have you ever been in a situation that seemed to be disastrous from every angle? Maybe a job situation...a relationship problem....financial difficulty....most often times...something WE’VE done...or at least contributed to....We’ve all found ourselves in these situations. But the Bible says GOD CARES! He tells us to let Him fix it! We are EXTREMELY important to Him. He has our hairs numbered! I haven’t even counted my children’s hair.....who are probably the only people on Earth I would be willing to fight for! God will fight for us! He will make it right! When you feel like no one cares....remember GOD DOES CARE!! The Bible says so! Have a great snowy Sunday!
As long as we don't allow it!! Great promise from God!!
In Malachi 3:6, God states He does not change.... He's not going to change no matter what....

Church will resume tomorrow, 1/3/2021 at 10:00 a.m. Use caution as you return to church. We walk by faith; however, we can also walk with our common sense....wear your mask and social distance. May God protect His people! See you tomorrow!
Devotion for the day: John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Most people who have been around the church can quote this verse. We might even take it for granted...but think of the HUGE meaning this verse has. God gave his Son! That Son was Jesus! This verse really sums up the entire Bible....we must believe! 2021 is coming quickly....we only have a few hours left. Focus on John 3:16 for the remainder of 2020. Let it soak in...we have an everlasting life if we believe in Jesus! That's something to shout about!! Then, in 2021...let John 3:16 be our guiding light! Have a great Thursday!
Roland Chopfield & Willson Aigner
Roland Chopfield is under hospice care at his home in Richmond. He served as pastor of the Richmond Woodville Church for forty (40) years. Please keep the family, including his wife Dorothy in your prayers, and prayers for Pastor Charles Tillman and the Woodville family as they minister to the Chopfields.
Willson Aigner, is member of our Varina Church, and for many years also served as our District Work/Witness Coordinator. He helped lead and/or participate many Work Witness trips (we're still counting but we know the number is more than 60). He has been in a recent and valiant fight against cancer, yet, hospice care has been called to his home. The medical team is now providing him comfort. His children have gathered, too. Willson become a great-grandfather on December 23, 2020. I know the family and Pastor Joyce Grambo of the Varina Church family would appreciate your prayers as they walk this journey.
