Crewe Fire currently on scene of a two vehicle accident at Watsons Wood Rd.
At 11:12 am Crewe Fire units responded to the report of a commercial structure fire. Upon arrival volunteers were faced with heavy smoke and fire. With help from Burkeville Fire, Blackstone Fire, Fort Pickett Fire, Victoria Fire, and Farmville Fire the blaze was able to be put out succesfully and without injuries. A huge thank you to everyone for their work today!! Volunteers throughout our county train constantly to be ready when emergencys happen!

The 24 hour shelter located at Burkeville Elementary School and transportation to the Shelter will be closing Tuesday Feb 23, 2021 at 9 am. Ready to eat meals will continue to be distributed from Blackstone, Crewe, and Burkeville Fire Departments starting at 12 noon daily. Anyone still needing assistance is encouraged to call the Emergency Operations Center at 434-538-0156.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
Nottoway County will have emergency heat ready meals available at Blackstone, Burkeville, and Crewe Fire Department Stations on Sunday, February 21, 2021, starting at 12 noon. If you are picking up meals from the Blackstone Fire Department, please pull through the rear of the station to be assisted. It will be a first come, first serve basis.
Burkeville Elementary School Shelter has blankets, pillows, and personal hygiene kits available for anyone in need.
Employees from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative are at Hooper Park in Crewe, VA to help assist members of Southside Electric Cooperative who remain without power from Winter Storm Tabitha. Bottled water, snacks, hand sanitizer and a charging station are available until 3pm today or while supplies last.
The Crewe Volunteer Fire Department will be distributing meals starting tomorrow, Saturday February the 20th at 4:00 PM at the Fire Department through Tuesday, February the 23rd. The meals are on a first come, first served basis and will be served starting at 4:00 PM each afternoon. The Fire Department will have 100 meals tomorrow night, Sunday night, and Monday night. On Tuesday night they will have 200 meals.

Nottoway County Emergency Operation Centerโs hours will no longer be 24 hours effective February 19, 2021, at 5 PM. The new hours of operation will be 8 AM to 8 PM until further notice. If you need to contact the EOC the number is 434-538-0156.
The Nottoway County Emergency Operations Center is asking for your help. Please check on your neighbors, friends, and family. If they have shelter needs, please have them call the EOC at 434-538-0156 between 9 AM and 5 PM.
In preparation for the future opening of the school system, Nottoway EOC will begin and only have one 24 hour overnight shelter at Burkeville Elementary School starting February 20, 2021, at 9 AM. Blackstone Elementary warming station will officially close today, February 19, 2021, at 4 PM. The Crewe Primary warming shelter and overnight shelter will close at 9 AM tomorrow February 20, 2021. If you need transportation to the Burkeville Elementary Shelter, Blackstone Area Bus will provide transportation on February 20, 2021, from Blackstone Fire Department at 2 and 4 PM, and Crewe Fire Department at 3 and 5 PM.
The Nottoway County Landfill will begin opening on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 8:30 AM to 6 PM until further notice to dump any storm debris and household trash. Please separate the storm debris from your household trash as it will need to be dumped in a separate area. The Convenience Site Centers will begin opening on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 8:30 AM to 6 PM until further notice to dump any household trash.

If you are in need of transportation to the Crewe Primary Shelter, the BABS bus service will be at Blackstone Fire Dept. today, Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 2pm, 4pm and 6 pm. Burkeville Fire Dept at 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm to take you to the shelter. If you have any questions please contact the EOC (emergency operations center) at 434-538-0156.

At approximately 3:03 AM Crewe Fire was called to the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, we found heavy flames coming from the second floor. The fire was extinguished successfully with no injuries. We would like to thank Blackstone and Burkeville Fire Depts. for their assistance!
