Oh the places our seniors will go! We celebrated Decision Day with our seniors today with fabulous raffle prizes and photo booth fun. Students also signed banners letting the world know where they are headed next year. Congratulations, class of 2026!

We had beautiful weather today for a great college visit to Loyola University Chicago!

Community service opportunity alert! 15 student volunteers per day are needed to help scare people silly on the Haunted Hayride and Haunted Trail at the Crete F-Men's Hall on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25 from 6:00pm - 11:00pm. The F-Men's Hall is located at 1962 West Exchange Street in Crete (just west of CMHS near the Will County Sheriff's station). Scan the QR code on the flyer to sign up to volunteer!

The 3rd annual Denise Graney Memorial Breast Cancer Walk will take place on October 17 from 3:00-5:00 PM at CMHS. This event is dedicated to long-time CMHS English teacher Denise Graney, who died of breast cancer in 2023.

If you are interested in supporting this event, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up for donations. We have a goal to raise $3000 for cancer research (we're 90% of the way there!): https://gofund.me/42859accc

All proceeds benefit the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation, which works right here in the Chicago area to fund cancer research and help young scientists and doctors finish their education so they too can search for a cure.

The Kankakee Area Career Center (KACC) will be hosting an open House on Thursday, October 9 from 5:00pm-7:00pm for all current KACC students and prospective KACC students. All parents and students are invited to attend! Students who are currently in their sophomore or junior year will be able to apply to the program for the 2026-2027 school year.

Students, check out this upcoming volunteer opportunity! As a reminder, CMHS students need to complete and log a minimum of 7 community services hours per year and need to have 28 hours completed by Graduation (prorated for the class of 2026 and 2027).

The 2026-2027 FAFSA is now open! Completing the FAFSA during your senior year is a state of Illinois graduation requirement. Seniors and senior parents should visit www.studentaid.gov today to begin their application. As a reminder, students who will be entering college in the Fall of 2026 need to complete the 2026-2027 application, NOT the 2025-2026 application.

Need help completing the FAFSA? Our Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) rep, Ms. Paighton Thomas, is at CMHS every Friday from 10:00am-2:00pm. She is available to meet with students and parents. You can also contact Ms. Thomas directly at [email protected] .
