For a person living with cancer—and for the family members who love them—every additional month matters.
New real-world research involving nearly 98,000 patients found that people treated in community oncology practices experienced strong survival outcomes compared with national benchmarks:
🔹 Patients with metastatic breast cancer had a median overall survival that was eight months longer
🔹 Patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer had a median overall survival that was two months longer
🔹 Survival rates at one, three, and five years were consistently higher in the study population
At Pontchartrain Cancer Center, we believe patients deserve high-quality, personalized cancer care delivered by a team they know and trust—right here in their community.
This important study was commissioned by our partners at the Community Oncology Alliance and independently conducted by Flatiron Health.

Kathy Oubre recently joined fellow advocates at Community Oncology Alliance (COA) Hill Day 2026 in Washington, D.C., to discuss issues impacting cancer patients, families, and community oncology practices.
Alongside patients, survivors, caregivers, clinicians, and practice leaders from across the country, she met with lawmakers to advocate for policies that help protect access to affordable, high-quality cancer care close to home.
The conversations taking place in Washington have a direct impact on patients and their ability to receive timely care when they need it most.
