Travel for Success
Helping entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals boost productivity through purposeful travel every 6 weeks. Work smarter. Live better.
Welcome to Travel for Success – where productivity meets purpose. I’m Jim Carmichael, a commercial real estate entrepreneur, author, and business owner who discovered something powerful:
🔥 The most productive weeks of my year happen right before and after I leave town. In 2022, I committed to a strategy—leave town every 6 weeks, reset, recharge, and come back sharper than ever. Since then, I’ve gr
The best business ideas I've ever had didn't happen during a meeting.
They happened on a walk, on a plane, or staring at the ocean.
Sometimes your mind needs space to connect the dots.
I used to measure productivity by hours worked.
Now I measure it by results achieved.
Those are two very different scorecards.
Travel helped me learn the difference.
One lesson travel has taught me:
Most problems aren't as big as they seem when you're standing in the middle of them.
Distance has a way of shrinking problems and revealing solutions.

Most people wait until they're exhausted to take a break.
I've found it's better to leave before you need to.
Don't wait for burnout.
Build recovery into the system.
Your future self will thank you.

I used to think taking time away would hurt my business.
What I discovered was the opposite.
The planning before the trip and clarity after the trip often created my biggest gains.
Sometimes stepping away is the most productive thing you can do.

One of the best productivity hacks I've ever found:
Put a trip on the calendar.
Amazing how quickly priorities become clear when time becomes limited.
You can learn a lot about your business by leaving it for a few days.
What's working.
What's broken.
What depends too much on you.
Travel exposes the truth.
And that's valuable.
The older I get, the less impressed I am with hustle.
I'm more interested in results.
The goal isn't to work harder.
The goal is to work on the right things.
Travel helps me identify what those things are.
Most breakthroughs don't happen at your desk.
They happen when your mind finally has room to wander.
That's one reason I intentionally leave town every six weeks.
The ROI has been incredible.
One thing I've noticed over the years:
The busiest people rarely have time to think.
The most successful people make time to think.
There is a difference.
Travel forces that time.
