The Man, The Myth, The Mississippi | In June 2022, Dale "Greybeard" Sanders set out in his 15-foot canoe, Perseverance, to reclaim his record as the oldest known person to paddle the Mississippi source to sea and invited a documentary crew along for the ride.
The resulting 90-minute film, Greybeard: The Man, The Myth, The Mississippi, chronicles Sanders’ journey from the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Lake Itasca, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico—as well as provides the origin story for the serial record-setter.

🌿 Did you know...
The Wolf River in Harrison County is one of South Mississippi’s most ecologically diverse waterways? It is home to longleaf pine uplands, rich wetlands, and wildlife that depend on a clean, connected habitat.
Thanks to recent conservation partnerships, over 14,000 acres along the Wolf River are now permanently protected, safeguarding water quality, restoring longleaf pine ecosystems, and supporting species like the gopher tortoise.
Every paddle, every hike, every quiet moment by the water is part of a living landscape that’s being protected for future generations.
🛶Real adventures.
🌳Real conservation.
