Focus Forward Therapy

Recently completed a continuing education course on incorporating vibration plates into pediatric therapy sessions. Since implementing them into a variety of treatment plans, there has been such positive progress in many of the children receiving OT services. Vibration plates can help improve balance, postural control, core strength, muscle activation, coordination, body awareness (proprioception), motor planning, and sensory regulation. They can also increase engagement and participation during therapy activities while supporting the achievement of functional goals.
*Activities using a vibration plate should not be attempted without the supervision and guidance of a licensed occupational therapist

Using visual supports helps children understand expectations, follow routines, improve communication, and build independence. Whether it's a visual schedule, first-then board, or choice chart, visuals can reduce frustration and increase confidence during activities.
