"Thanksgiving is a time to look back and appreciate all that we have. As Californians, we’re fortunate that our farmers can grow almost everything we need, but it takes water to do that. With positive political support, farming in California will continue to lead the world in food safety, reliability, diversity, quality, and abundance"

Did you know you shouldn’t flush wipes even if they are labeled “flushable?” After years of legislative work, AB 818 has been signed into law by the Governor! In compliance with AB 818, all wet wipes packages are required to include a “Do Not Flush” symbol and warning on each individual package. Flushing wipes can have a negative impact on your household’s sewer systems, infrastructure and our environment. Look for the warning on shelves near you starting July 2022!

After three days of training, Director Rizvi and I graduated from the California Special Districts Association’s - Special District’s Leadership Academy.
It was nice to be in-person and meet so many elected and appointed leaders throughout CA from special districts. I realized how often those very important seats are ignored when election time comes around yet some of the most vital decisions, that affect our daily lives, happen on those daises.
Let’s be intentional about filling those seats in the IE!

To better provide public and firefighter safety due to the ongoing California wildfire crisis, U.S. Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region announced a temporary closure of all National Forests in California, including Cleveland National Forest and Skyline Trail. The closure is in effect from August 31, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. through September 17, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.
“We do not take this decision lightly, but this is the best choice for public safety,” said Regional Forester Jennifer Eberlien. “It is especially hard with the approaching Labor Day weekend when so many people enjoy our national forests.”

Save Our Water
The hots are getting hotter and the dries are getting drier - that is the reality of climate change.
We are expanding the drought emergency proclamation to include 9 more counties - including San Luis Obispo County. This emergency proclamation now covers 50 out of 58 counties.
Conserving water is not just an individual responsibility issue - we need to put resources behind this fight. The Plan proposes a $5.1B investment over 4 years for water infrastructure, drought preparedness and response, and water resilience.
