At today’s Rotary Club meeting we were very pleased to officially welcome our two newest members, Jared Barton and Justin Christian. Our speaker was Arnold Taylor. Me. Taylor is Rotary District 6740 Yourh Exchange Program Chair. He told us about opportunities for local high school students to soend a semester overseas and for local families to host international students.
Join us in recognizing world polio day. Several of our events, including the international dinner, help to raise funds to continue to fight Polio globally!

We had a very special day at our Rotary Club meeting today. Our guest speakers were Sarah Ashley and Nell Wi******er. They both have a late husband who served as President of the Corbin Rotary Club, W.C. "Carlisle" Ashley 1954-1955 and (Judge) Jerry Wi******er 1977-1978. They each spoke about the era their husband served as President of our Club. Their remarks were humorous, heartfelt and enlightening. A big thanks to both of these fine ladies for taking the time to speak to us and to Rotarian Milly Burkhart for arranging the visit.

EMPTY STOCKING FUND SIGNUP INFORMATION - PLEASE SHARE ON YOUR PAGE
Signups for the 2022 Empty Stocking Fund program will be held Wednesday November 9th and Friday November 11th at the District Court Room Lobby next to the Corbin Police and Fire Dept. We will start at 9:00 A M each day. Please bring Identification for yourself and Social Security cards, Snap benefits award letter and copies of at least one paycheck stub (if employed).

We had a big Rotary Club meeting on 9/22. Matthew Taylor and Lola Caldwell were officially welcomed as our newest members. Maggy Monhollen, Corbin Tourism Executive Director, was our speaker and talked about upcoming events and tourism projects around town.
Scott Wilson, pastor of Grace on the Hill, came to speak to us last week! He invites everyone out to the church on September 11th for an open house to see some of the changes they’ve made!
Here are some photos of the outcome of the toy drive that Rotarian Michael Jones and his son held for flood victims. These toys were hand delivered to kids in Eastern Kentucky last weekend!
Our District Governor, Seema Sachdeva, joined us from Pikeville on Thursday. Thank you for visiting Corbin! Big shout out to Corbin Tourism for putting together this welcome basket for us to give to her as well.
In attendance, we actually had 4 previous district governors (Joe Caldwell, John Burkhart, Rakesh Sachdeva, and Kathryn Hardman) with us as well as our current DG and our Assistant DG, Tina Cook.

Rotarian Michael Jones updated our club today on a toy drive his son came up with to help our brothers and sisters in EKY. Some children don’t have anything left, we can surely give them a little joy back by giving them a toy!
Donations are being accepted through tomorrow and can be dropped off at any of the State Farm offices in Corbin.
We enjoyed having our local Interact club join us last week for lunch! Just take a look at some of the great things these students are doing. We are proud of you!

Today the Corbin Rotary Club had its annual officer installation ceremony. Outgoing President Steve Vaughn turned over the reins to new President Chase Hail. Steve did a great job during his year at the helm and we know Chase will do the same.

We had a very good crowd and a great time at today's Rotary Club meeting. All of our 2022 Rotary Scholarship winners were guests along with family members. Each of scholarship winners spoke briefly about their college plans. Also, Rotarian Usha Patil was honored for being named a Paul Harris Fellow. The PHF award is in recognition of Usha's contributions to the Corbin Rotary Club and Rotary International.

At today’s Rotary Club meeting we were pleased to welcome Hannah Greer as guest speaker. Hannah is Director of the Corbin Public library and talked about current and future programs the library has to offer.
On 5/5/22 the Rotary Club was pleased to welcome Matt Bargo. Matt is owner of Bargo 459 Distillery, which now has bourbon available to purchase on-line.

12th annual International Dinner hosted by the Corbin & London Rotary Clubs. We have almost 600 guests and 27 food vendors. All proceeds go to Rotary International’s Polio Plus campaign. That dreaded disease has almost been eradicated worldwide in large part due to the efforts of Rotary clubs around the globe.
At today’s Rotary Club meeting we were pleased to welcome Aaron Dees as guest speaker. Aaron is with Cybersolutions, a local company specializing in website and app design for businesses.
We loved having Jason Wilson, candidate for Whitley County Jailer, speak to our club last week. Good luck in the upcoming election, Jason!
Meghann Chesnut, Director of Philanthropy at Baptist Health Corbin, was our speaker last week at Rotary! She told us about all the great work Baptist Health is doing in our community and across their organization!
For today’s Rotary Club meeting we took a field trip to the School of Innovation at Corbin Elementary. The SOI is one of only two K-12 Montessori schools in the state of Kentucky. They also provide adult education services. Thanks to SOI Director Heather Martinez, the rest of the staff and the students for having us.
John Yanes, President of Saint Joseph London Hospital, spoke to our club last week! He went over the impact a hospital has on its community.

We were also pleased to have Pam Harrison as guest speaker. Pam is CEO of Continue Care, the long-term acute care hospital at Baptist Health in Corbin.
At this week’s Rotary Club meeting we were pleased to have Mark & Michelle Shepherd as guests. Mark spoke about the two local restaurants he owns, Bubby’s and Bree’s on Main.
At today’s Rotary Club meeting we were pleased to have Jim Brusso as guest speaker. Jim owns several local businesses, including Queen’s Domain, Game King, Sweetie’s Ice Cream and the Pinball Museum.

At Thursday’s Rotary Club meeting we were very pleased to welcome Jennifer Reeder from AA Women’s Services as guest speaker.

Two weeks ago we had Pat White, Whitley Co. Judge Executive come to speak to us about some updates with the county. He then took off to salt roads ahead of our first big snow storm!
Last week we had Aaron Poynter, Myra Wilson, and Sany Birkholz with the Lake Cumberland Area Development District and South Central Workforce Development speak to us about some of their programs and the way they are helping folks get back to work!
This week we had Dr. Scott Wilson, the new pastor with Grace on The Hill and Gus Clouse, his executive assistant join us. They told us about updates being made in the church and some great things on the horizon for them!
Our club hosted Mr. Mike Harmon, KY State Auditor, last Thursday.
Under his leadership, the auditor’s office has completed high profile audits and examinations of entities and programs such as the Commonwealth’s public retirement systems, the Administrative Office of the Courts, KentuckyWired, the University of Louisville Foundation, the Kentucky Law Enforcement Foundation Program Fund, and many others. His administration has also supported legislation to strengthen city audit requirements, improve transparency of area development districts, and reduce the cost of audits for county officials.

This is the most labor-intensive part of the ESF program.
