Calgon Carbon celebrated Disability Mentoring Day by welcoming students from Beaver Area School District for a hands-on day of learning and career exploration. The event included a resume workshop, engineering experiments in our R&D lab, and a “Day in the Life” session with our employees. We wrapped up with a virtual escape room. There was even had a surprise visit from Iceburgh, the Pittsburgh Penguins mascot! 🐧

Calgon Carbon’s second peer-reviewed study, published in Remediation Journal (Wiley, 2025), confirms our proprietary reactivation process as a proven PFAS-destructive technology for drinking water. Testing at our potable GAC facility showed PFAS destroyed at scale, validated by the latest EPA methods. The study demonstrates reactivation restores carbon performance and sets a new benchmark for PFAS destruction.
Our proprietary process removes PFAS from spent carbon to non-detect levels, with greater than 99.9% destruction removal efficiency. No byproducts or reformed PFAS were detected, and the process supports sustainability by recycling activated carbon for continued use. This breakthrough offers municipalities and utilities a scalable, science-backed solution for “forever chemicals” in water.

Recently, Calgon Carbon volunteers—including employees and interns—spent the afternoon improving trails at Hollow Oak’s Montour Woods in Moon Township!
The team worked to remove invasive plants and build a bridge over a muddy trail section. Calgon Carbon donated the materials, and everyone learned something new about trail maintenance and teamwork.
A big thanks to Hollow Oak Land Trust for having us, and to our volunteers for making a real impact!
