Getting to know…Becky Ramker, owner of Your CBD Store! Located across the ‘street’ from #OldNavy at Coral Ridge since September of 2020, Your CBD Store is one of SEVEN (Wow!) locations owned and operated by Becky Ramker. She was inspired to get into the CBD business in 2018 for a very personal reason – her daughter-in-law found relief from seizures after she started using CBD products! In 2022, Becky is most excited to get their products out to more people as they become a trusted source for all things CBD. The store carries a wide assortment of products including options for your furry friends!
We’re very happy to have their healing presence in our center!
Getting to know…Deb Olson/owner of Bits & Pieces! Deb Olson took a leap of faith three years ago and opened her business in #CoralRidgeMall next to #GNC and across from #Victoriassecret. The reason? Deb says, “Bits & Pieces is based on faith. I felt a strong pull to be an ear for those who need someone to talk to, a hand for those who need to pray, and a hug when someone needs human touch. We want to make an effort to be "present" in peoples' lives! A simple smile and "hi" can mean the world to someone. When visiting Bits & Pieces, we want you to feel like you are at grandma's house. Relax, sing and/or dance to the music and laugh out loud.”
With 26 vendors (and growing!), there is a wide selection of locally created home décor products for almost any taste, but there’s more! More Bits & Pieces, that is! Opening soon across the ‘street’ from their current space, More Bits & Pieces will offer art classes, a hangout place to work on puzzles/play a game and bakery items. Deb is so grateful for those who have helped them grow, “We have the best customers (friends) who keep returning to chat and see what is new in the store. Thanks to all our loyal customers (friends) for adding a special touch to our store.”
We can’t wait to see what you bring next to the Coral Ridge community!

Getting to know…Kaaren Vargas/owner of #MellowMushroom! Located next to #Target and the carousel, #MellowMushroom has been serving delicious pizza/food and a huge assortment of craft beers for almost eight years at Coral Ridge.
Kaaren is an extremely busy woman: pediatric dentist with a private practice in North Liberty and owner of Thrive Gym (Coralville)!! She’s originally from Peru but has lived in Iowa City for 30 years. Kaaren says, “We are very excited about the changes coming to our restaurant this year! We have hired an amazing general manager, Michael Kilburg. He started in November of last year and has done some incredible reorganization and rearranging. We are showcasing our hand tossed stone baked pizzas and our one of kind beer selections! We love our customers and have the vision to make 2022 the best year so far in customer service, food quality and overall fun at Mellow! Please come and check us out!!” Details on our website!
Now I’m going to be hungry for Mellow Mushroom pizza all day…my favorite is Holy Shiitake, what's yours?

“The most difficult part of opening our business, besides capital, was making the transition from a 9-to-5 employee mentality to an entrepreneurial mentality. But, the most rewarding part is the opportunity to provide for other young people, especially our family and friends.”
We’re sharing stories of Black excellence this Black History Month from some of our Partner to Empower members, a program that provides funding and resources to Black- and minority-owned businesses who are looking to open stores here and at our sister malls. For today’s post, we’re chilling with Ira Guinn, the owner of Super Icy Brothers — a premium frozen dessert shop at Carolina Place! We love Ira’s passion for giving back to the youth and we’re so happy he’s part of the Partner to Empower team!

This Black History Month, we’re showcasing those who are building legacies of success and driving change in their communities every day. We chatted with Domonique Boone, the phenomenal owner of Leslie's Laundry Care in Carolina Place, NC — a mobile laundry and dry-cleaning service named after her adorable 6-year-old daughter Leslie! She’s also a member of Partner to Empower, a program that provides funding and resources to Black- and minority-owned businesses that are interested in opening stores here and at our sister malls.
We asked Domonique what advice she would give to young, Black entrepreneurs. Her response: “I would tell a young Black entrepreneur hoping to one day open a business of their own to build a new network of relationships with like-minded business owners and professionals. And you may receive 50 “Nos” — but all you need is one “Yes” for your dream to come true. Keep going!” ✨
We'll be back next week with another inspiring innovator!
