Summer Camp Destination: MN Science Museum!
Fun Fact: It was first located at the St. Paul Auditorium on Fourth Street until 1927 when it moved to Merriam Mansion on Capitol Hill. As the Science Museum outgrew this space and moved to the St. Paul-Ramsey Arts and Sciences Center until getting a new space in 1978. This space lasted until it’s move to its current spot that opened in 1998!
Here are some tips for getting your child to try new activities as we end the summer!

Summer Camp Destination: The Banfille Locke Center for Arts! Fun Fact: In 1847, the John Banfill Wayside Inn was erected as a stop for soldiers and fur traders who traveled the course of the Red River Trail. The inn was about a one day journey to the city and was thus a logical stop for travelers.
In 1857, the Banfills sold the property which passed through several hands until 1912, when the Locke Family purchased the land and building for use as a dairy farm and eventually as their summer home.
This well-conserved sample of Greek Revival is listed on the National Registry of Historic Sites.
From 1988 to 2021, the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts has operated out of the historic Banfill-Locke House.
Summer Camp Arts n Crafts: Clay sculptures - inspired by the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden…kinda 😆
Summer Camp Destination: Minneapolis Sculpture Garden! Fun Fact: The sculpture garden dates back to 1913. The land was a floral garden for over 50 years. It’s also been a football stadium and an outdoor concert venue. Simon and Garfunkel was the last big name act to play at the stadium, in 1983.
Eventually, the Walker Art Museum paid the $1 million to demolish the stadium and in 1988 the Sculpture Garden became a reality! It’s sculptures were largely the same until it’s current redesign in 2017!
Summer Camp Destination: Bakken Science Museum! Fun fact - The Bakken Science Museum has changed owners over the years. It’s longest resident is rumored to be the ghost of a caretaker who sticks to what is now an administrative office!

What a great time learning about history and nature!
Fun Fact: At a total length of approximately 2,150 feet, the C**n Rapids Dam is only 490 feet short of 1/2 mile. Construction workers used over 42,000 cubic yards of concrete and over 800 carloads of crushed rock to make the dam in 1913!
The C**n Rapids Splash Pad is open for business!!
