Disappointing news late this week for those of you interested in MOD Pizza.

In September, we were told construction on the new restaurant would resume in March with a July 2024 opening. But MOD Pizza has since announced they are cancelling their expansion plans in Minnesota indefinitely. The reason for the decision isn't clear.

Other tenants are now being sought for the space, which is located near the intersection of Main St. and Round Lake Blvd. in the Riverdale Village area.

You may have recently driven by a fire hydrant in the city that is covered in a red bag and wondered why they are wrapped up.

The red bags have been used in recent years on high traffic roads that get salted the most during the winter months. The bags help prevent road salt from getting into the nuts and bolts of the hydrants which can cause the caps to jam up over time.

If the hydrant is needed, firefighters can simply slice the bag open and use it as usual.

72% of consumers reported that Small Business Saturday 2022 made them want to shop and dine at small, independently-owned retailers and restaurants all year long. It's estimated that 68 cents of every dollar spent at a small business in the United States stays in the local community.

As we gather together with friends and family, remember that stuffing is for the birds, not the sewers.

A cornucopia of things like wipes, diapers, cooking grease, and even your holiday turkey shouldn't be put down toilets and drains.

So let's squash bad habits and only flush the three P’s: p**p, paper, and p*e.

The sewers thank you.

Did you know that Thanksgiving eve is one of the biggest days of the year for pizza sales? 🍕 Which means there's plenty of pizza boxes to go around.

Despite what the delivery box might say… most pizza boxes are not recyclable in Minnesota at this time. Under perfect conditions, corrugated cardboard is one of the easiest things to recycle – and can be recycled up to 5-7 times! However, the pizza box predicament is… all that grease!

Currently, paper mills will not accept material that contains excessive grease and food waste contamination, so you should not add greasy boxes to your curbside recycling bin. However, you can remove the lid for recycling if it is grease free.
