Current assistant principal DeMann Seals has been named principal for Coon Rapids Middle School for the 2022-23 school year. He will begin serving in this role effective July 1, 2022. Seals will take over from Tom Shaw, who will be principal at Roosevelt Middle School starting next year.
Seals has a strong record of service as current assistant principal at CRMS for the past five years. He also served as administrative intern at Coon Rapids High School and as a special education teacher in Anoka-Hennepin. Read the full story: https://bit.ly/3wZxxSg

Student Council will be having a food drive during Core next week, March 28 - April 1st.
The core with the most items will win a morning treat (TBD)
All items will go to our own Falcon Nest. Most needed items are Mac & Cheese, Canned meals (chef boyardee-ravioli etc...) canned veggies, canned fruit, cereal (bagged or boxed) granola bars, ramen noodles, toothpaste, deodorant.
Please be sure to stress to kids that items can't be expired. Those won't count in your core's count.
Student Council will collect each morning during the week. There will be count sheets for you to put your totals on for when we collect each morning.
In Ms. Bowman’s class CRMS students wwerr studying heat transfer by building houses and insulating them. They had to buy their materials with Monopoly money. Every kid was engaged.
There are always different ways to connect with all of our kids at CRMS. Our lead custodian, Mr. Oltman, connects frequently with this student that needs a little support getting through our halls. This student’s favorite person is Mr. Oltman. Smiles everywhere.

The annual competition promotes reading and comprehension of literature in a fun and engaging format. A total of 19 three-person teams from each district middle school battled to prove they learned key concepts of 25 books chosen for this year’s competition. CRMS math students took part in a hands on budgeting activity in which they created and executed a budget. Students walked between several classrooms to make their purchases.
Congratulations to the CR peewee team that beat a strong Blaine team last night in the playoffs. We have some CRMS talent that plays on that hockey team.

The always engaging CRHS Football Coach Nick Rusin came with players and staff to CRMS to answer activity questions during lunch. The students he brought over were incredible role models for our kids. One Team.
Our CRMS student council met this morning. What a great group. Student council is focusing on student voice and service learning.
Congratulations to our three Battle of the Books teams! They did a fantastic job at the District Battle, with Team Read it and Weep making it all the way to 5th place. The trophy ultimately went to The Glacier from Jackson Middle School, who worked hard to get through 39 rounds of questions. Congratulations to all readers! Let's do it again next year!

Teams of students from all district middle schools will battle to prove their literary knowledge at the Educational Service Center in Anoka today starting at 9:30 a.m. The annual Battle of the Books competition challenges students to recall key concepts from 25 books.
