Adams Elemetnary families: Is your student (grades 2-5) looking for a crash course in physics and a whole lot of fun? In this Community Ed class, students will learn about Newton’s law and laws of motions and gravity, Cantilever principle, hand-eye synchronization, and more. During class, they will independently build working motorized models of Pendulum ride, Robotic Goal-keeper, Construction Elevator, Snail Robot and others. Anoka-Hennepin School District will host an in-person hiring event for operational positions TODAY from 2-6 p.m. in the Erling Johnson Rooms A and B at the Educational Service Center (ESC), located at 2727 N Ferry St. in Anoka (enter Door 7).

A wide variety of full- and part-time positions are available at schools across the district, including special education paras, elementary para (recess/lunch attendants), school bus paras, custodians, child nutrition staff, before- and after-school child care (Adventures Plus) - a.m. or p.m., substitute positions, and Minnesota Reading Corps.

Free fundraising training event for PTOs, booster clubs and nonprofits

Anoka-Hennepin Parent Involvement is hosting a free training event, ‘Fundraising? Oh My!’. The event will give members of parent/teacher organizations, booster clubs or other nonprofits a boost by learning about different fundraising options that are available to groups in the school district or local area.

The event will be held in-person on April 19, 2022, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Educational Service Center in Anoka (2727 N. Ferry St., enter door 7).

Attendees will get advice about determining their group’s fundraising needs, promoting fundraisers, creating a calendar and other best practices. They’ll take home tips and meet with fundraising vendors to learn about new opportunities. Participants will also have the chance to ask questions of local experts that may be helpful to their group, in the fields of insurance, banking, finance, and conflict resolution.

Exciting news: Girls on the Run is coming to Adams Elementary! Girls on the Run is an afterschool program that uses the power of running to prepare 3rd - 5th grade girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Over the course of the 8-week, 16-lesson season, girls learn life-changing lessons about healthy friendships, teamwork, decision-making, self-respect and more, all while preparing to run a 5k. Open to all 3rd - 5th grade girls and non-binary/gender expansive youth; no previous running experience required, and generous financial aid is available. Registration is open at www.gotrmn.org now! Our season will be each Monday & Wednesday 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. from April 4 - June 4th, culminating with the Girls on the Run 5K the first weekend in June. Space is limited so register early! Classes take place at Northdale Middle School from April 5 – April 26 starting at 6:30 p.m. In this session, your child will learn about STEM and programming concepts and will be challenged to build up to four different motorized robotic and engineering models using patented building and programming kits. Anoka-Hennepin School District is excited to welcome families with incoming kindergarten students!

For those of you who haven't been to Fridley Commons park, here is a view of it. Enter the parking lot from 61st to park at the top of the hill. Parking up there is limited. Extra parking is along 61st, as well.
There's a warning house, 2 skating rinks, and a large sledding hill.
It's supposed to be about 23° by 11!
