This past Monday, our teachers attended our 19th Annual Professional Development Conference. This gave them the opportunity to learn more about one another while better understanding how to further celebrate diversity and inclusion within the classroom. Our teachers will be using the information learned to make New Horizon Academy’s next 50 years even better.

Our friends were able to join in the celebration of New Horizon Academy's 50th Anniversary last week! 🎉

Our school-age friends have been growing monarch butterflies. We had so much fun watching them grow from caterpillar eggs to beautiful butterflies! 🦋

Our school-age friends had so much fun with this noodle experiment yesterday! First, we cooked up some noodles. Then, we placed blocks underneath our fork to hold it in place. We were completely shocked to see that it only would take 15 minutes outside for our fork and noodles to completely freeze in place! 🍜

Their dedication and excitement for our school-age program is second to none. Thank you both for making learning a SUCCESS for our elementary school students!

Our friends in Pre 3 had a blast learning all about Minnesota wildlife this week!

We learned that 1 teacher and 2 of our friends fit in a loons nest, and 1 teacher and 11 of our friends fit in an eagles nest—with room for more! 🦅

For art, we created our own loon! First, we added white stripes and spots and a red eye to our loon. Then, we added feathers, water, seaweed, and other fish to create a habitat for our loon. We also learned that loons follow their mommy closely behind, so we pretended to be loons following their mommy around the lake. We had so much fun with this activity!

We also learned all about small and large mouth bass, catfish, sunfish, and a muskie and how they compare in size using string for our measuring activity. We couldn't believe how different they were in size! 🐟

Today, our school-age friends made their own Cup and Ball Game using reusable items. We had so much fun creating and playing with our new game!

Our friends in Preschool 3 enjoyed making bread in a bag yesterday. It was so yummy! 🍞

Our school-age friends performed an egg drop experiment yesterday. We had so much fun coming up with new, creative ways to protect our eggs from breaking! 🥚

A heartfelt thank you to all of our wonderful families who have donated children's items this week for our friends in the Minneapolis area! ❤️

Our friends wanted to show their thanks today by making cards for our Minnesota National Guard in class today. Thank you for all that you do to keep us safe!
