W-2 Deadlines - Did You Know?

Businesses: January 31st, 2019 is the deadline for employers to issue W-2 forms to their employees.

If you are an employee: You should expect to receive your W-2 from your employer soon, if you have not received it already.

This week is National Payroll Week. National Payroll Week celebrates the hard work by America's 156 million wage earners and the payroll professionals who pay them. Together, through the payroll withholding system, they contribute, collect, report and deposit approximately $1.7 trillion, or 71.8%, of the annual revenue of the U.S. Treasury.

Did you know??? The IRS and Texas Workforce Commission could care less about an agreement that you have with someone to pay them as a contractor ("1099") if they deem them to be an employee. This is a VERY costly and common mistake too many business owners make. Real Life Example = You can not pay the secretary that you manage, train, pay by the hour and sits in your office as a contractor even if you BOTH agree on those payment terms.
