A work in progress for an upcoming field note!
This one was a fun one to create.
We don't have to show up perfectly.
We just need to show up authentically.

Entry: Serenity
Lenten Rose
Watercolor & Micron pen on watercolor paper
Found on a blustery day, when plans shifted and the winds were strong.
At the edge of a quiet garden, Lenten Rose and early spring blooms continued to rise—unmoved, steady, serene.
We have days like this too.
And still, we grow.
There is peace in that knowing.
Grant yourself the serenity already within. 🌿

Entry: Hope
Daffodil
Watercolor & Micron pen on watercolor paper
My heart skips a beat when I see the cheerful yellow blooms popping out of the ground, still covered with remnants of winter.
Daffodils are my favorite flower of springtime because they are one of the first blooms we see. Their golden petals are filled with joy, optimism, and hope for the season to come.
Sometimes we need that flash of sunshine when we are having a dark day. We carry those same golden hues within ourselves, but sometimes it helps to have something visible to move toward.
Keep spreading joy. Spring is here, and we continue to bloom. 🌼

Entry: Resilience
Snowdrop
Watercolor & Micron pen on watercolor paper
One of the first signs of spring is the appearance of snowdrops. They are among the first flowers we see on the trail.
They symbolize more than spring’s approach. They represent renewal, rebirth, and resilience. Despite the cold weather, and the unexpected nature of winter lingering, they survive and continue to bloom.
It is nature’s presence of hope.
A gentle reminder that we can weather anything.
Have confidence in yourself and in what you can accomplish. 🌱

Entry: Spring
Spring

Spring is almost here. You can feel the excitement in the air—birds chirping, March winds blowing, buds peering out from the branches, and the quiet vibration of change.
If you listen closely, you can feel it too. Not only in the nature growing around us, but within you as well.
Step outside and take a walk with me. Breathe. Absorb the moment. Connect with what is stirring.
You’re growing, too. 🌱

Entry: Awakening
Watercolor & Micron pen on watercolor paper
🌷 Spring is a gentle catalyst for renewal. Sometimes we have to let old structures fall away to make room for a brighter tomorrow. Trust the magic of your own awakening. Release the past, take one small step forward, and let your authentic self guide the way. 💫🌿
How are you choosing to step into your authentic self today? ✨

Every path begins somewhere.
These pieces come from the very first commission I ever created. For a long time, finding my style felt like a struggle. Growing up in a home filled with art and music, I believed my work needed to look a certain way—something familiar, something that reflected what had come before.
But creating isn’t about following the path already laid down. It’s about wandering a little, trusting your hands, and letting something new take shape.
When I let go of what I thought my art should look like, it finally became my own.
A good reminder for art—and for life.
You don’t have to follow someone else’s path.
You’re allowed to make your own. 🌿

Just Play.
Not every moment of creating needs an end result. Sometimes the most meaningful growth happens when we simply sit down with our materials and see what unfolds.
When we let go of expectations, our imagination opens and the inner critic quiets. Creating becomes less about producing something perfect and more about caring for ourselves in the process.
Let go of the end goal for a while.
Just create. Just explore. Just play. 🌿

Cardinals are not only Indiana’s state bird — they’ve also come to represent change, renewal, hope, and resilience. Many people find a sense of comfort in seeing them, especially during harder seasons.
I’ve noticed how often they appear on my walks and hikes, sometimes at just the right moment. That bright flash of red in the trees is a gentle reminder to breathe and keep moving forward.
Even in challenging seasons, hope and strength are still there. We need to be open enough to receive them.

Getting back to the root of what I enjoy and playing with ideas for future pieces. There's a story there with the bird and the bear...
