Hey Mark R Sabian-Education — these SABIAN HHX Complex Espressivo 19” crash cymbals sounded ridiculously good this last week with the Columbus Symphony!

For those of you looking for new crash cymbals, I was able to demo these for the virtual Sabian PASIC booth, and I’ve gotta say, while all of the models are killer, this pair of 19” cymbals stand out. Great fundamental, dark and rich tone but still manage to cut through the mix. Really easy to play and my new favorites!

Check out this recording from Ryan Boehme! I commissioned this piece from Emmanuel Séjourné last year with the help of a TON of percussionists from around the world. I still need to learn and record this one 😂 Ryan did a great job and hope to see more recordings come out soon. I’m thinking about playing this at PASIC 2021, but not sure..

60 second walkthrough of my setup for tomorrow’s performance at the World Vibes Congress. Let’s pray all of this tech works 😅 gonna be performing I Leave You the Real World by David Skidmore. The original piece I was set to premiere just wasn’t quite ready, but there’ll be an exclusive online premiere for that one announced soon, so stay tuned.. Malletech

Hi everyone! I've been relatively silent lately, but wanted to share a quick update about the World Vibes Congress this weekend. I was originally slated to premiere a new piece by Nick Werth, but I simply didn't have enough time to prepare the piece at a level that I'd be proud to share. It deserves to have a kickass world premiere, and this wouldn't have been it, so I've decided to perform perhaps an even more appropriate work for vibraphone + electronics for WVC -- I Leave You the Real World by David Skidmore.

Just throwing this out there so that I don't catch the people tuning in this weekend by surprise. There will be an announcement for some sort of exclusive online premiere in the next 4-8 weeks, so stay tuned and keep an eye out for that. Thanks and Happy New Year, friends!

A little preview of what I’m working on for the Malletech World Vibes Congress! More to come as I continue working up this new track by Nick Werth (hint: it’s a total banger, as the kids say). I’ll also be showing off a brand new beautiful glockenspiel that Malletech was kind enough to send along, not only to help with this performance, but also a concerto world premiere happening in March. Yep, feels like I’m back in the saddle again.. less drams and more drums coming your way. But first, a quick trip to tour Bardstown Bourbon Company before my focus shifts back to (mostly) music! Cheers, friends.

Excited to start chopping away at lots of new music, including pieces by Ivan Trevino, Nick Werth, Emmanuel Sejourne MUSIC, Adam Roberts, and Garrett Schumann! It’s pretty surreal that all of these pieces are my own commissions—lots of hard work organizing and funding these projects—and it will be so great to see everything come to fruition in 2021 (I hope!). I’m really proud of the work that it took to make this happen, and so elated that these brilliant composers were open to collaborating. Practice time! 🥁🤓

Went radio silent for a week while I was on the West Coast with these dudes! Recorded a virtual concert and will be sharing some clips on here. It’s been great to continue learning more about recording things like this, and becoming more self-sufficient with tech! This is a fun excerpt of Kevin Bobo’s Quartet for Four Snare Drums, a fitting piece since we all marched drum corps once upon a time 😂🥁

Going live in 90 mins (8pm EDT) with Rustic Percussion on Instagram! Really happy to be the latest addition to the Rustic Artist Roster. These temple blocks have traveled with me to just about every solo show, have held up well and still sound great as ever. Come hang with us in just a little bit!
