Breakthrough collaborative work with the Bakaletz and Goodman groups, here at Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Congratulations to Aishwarya Devaraj, Laura Novotny and Frank Robledo from the Goodman Lab, Bakaletz Lab and Partida-Sanchez Lab, respectively.
This work describe for the first time the effects of HMGB1, a DNA architectural protein and innate immune effector, on disrupting bacterial biofilms both in vitro and in vivo. Modified HMGB1 can be used as therapeutic by facilitating rapid clearance and eradication of recalcitrant bacterial biofilms.
