The wonderful musician Carlos Reyes, sat in with Santa Fe & The Fat City Horns last night. I haven't seen this talented man in years. We've shared the stage with various artist over the years a would often chat backstage. He has such a beautiful spirit and he lights up the room when he walks in. it's amazing how music connects us all. Last night, the music healed us all. Thanks to Jerry Lopez and the amazing Santa Fe & The Fat City Horns...you guys never disappoint!

New assignment...calls for different sounds!
I don't think I've ever taken 4 basses for one session. It's going to be a long day...lol!

Since moving to Las Vegas back in 2023 I really don't play out as much as I am used to, but I have done more session work in these two years than ever before. I guess there is some truth to the statement..."they don't need to see you, just hear you"!!! 😂😂😂😂

Here are my tools for this particular session...this music calls for a certain tone and these babies can deliver, should be fun! Y'all pray for a brotha!

Yesterday was the birthday of the great bassist Milton Hinton. I will forever treasure this signed picture from him...

"From one bass player to another...Milton and Mona Hinton"!

This came as a gift to me from my old boss (when I worked for the City of Columbus Zoning Department), Warren Rhodes. He was married to Mr. Hinton's niece and didn't realize that Uncle Milt was famous.

One day Warren casually asked me if I played the upright bass and proceeded to tell me that his wife's uncle had a few of them at his home in Queens NY. So, when I asked his name...Warren just said..."Uncle Milt"! Jokingly, my next question was..."would his last name happen to be Hinton"? I was shocked when he replied, "Yes...how did you know that"? Warren had no clue...at this point I explained to him that he was related to "The Judge", the great bassist Milton Hinton! And the next time they went to visit, they had Mr. Hinton sign this picture for me. I was blown away...one of the best gifts ever!

Happy Heavenly Birthday Mr. Hinton...

So excited...2025 is the year for me to bring the music of the "Broken String" to bandstands across the country. I really look forward to playing with this awesome group of musicians...we are going to have a blast!
