From your first day in the gym to fighting at the highest level, the gear you train in matters. 🥊
BEGINNER 💪
Starting out, your gear should focus on protection, comfort, and learning the basics. Bag and sparring gloves should protect your hands while helping you develop technique, while handwraps, headgear, mouthpieces, and groin protectors keep you safe during training. Lightweight boxing shoes with solid grip help build movement and balance in the ring. 👟
INTERMEDIATE 🔥
As your power and intensity increase, your gear needs to keep up. Gloves become more supportive and durable for harder sessions, while wraps and proper protection become even more important. Better headgear, mouthpieces, groin protectors, and boxing shoes help improve comfort, mobility, and safety during tougher training. 💥
PROFESSIONAL 🏆
At the highest level, every piece of gear becomes part of your performance. Pro-level gloves, wraps, and protection are built for precision, durability, and maximum support through intense training. Boxing shoes are designed for speed, flexibility, and stability to keep you sharp every second in the ring. ⚡
No matter the level, the right gear helps take you where you want to go. Train smarter. Train protected. Train ready. 🥊

On this day, May 25th 1965, one of the most controversial boxing matches took place. Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay at the time) faced off against Sonny Liston in which Clay won in a first round knockout. The fight took place in Lewiston, Maine at the Central Main Youth Center, a junior hockey rink because of legal restrictions and controversies making the fight move. The atmosphere was tense and rumors of said controversies were circulating, making the fight even more charged.
The ending of the fight happened almost as soon as it happened. Midway through the first round, Liston threw a left jab and Clay supposedly went over it with a fast right, knocking the former champion down. Liston went down heavy and didn't get up again. Many in attendance said they did not even see Clay deliver the punch. The ring dissolved into chaos, with Clay yelling at Liston to “Get up and fight” and “Nobody will believe this”, and the ref trying to get Clay back in a corner. The referee then had a miscommunication with the timekeeper, accidentally starting a second round even though it was a knockout and rushed to end it before anything started. This just added to the confusion of the match.
This match became one of the quickest heavyweight title knockouts in history, many of the crowd not even in their seats yet. The time of stoppage was announced at 1:00, but that was wrong. Liston went down at 1:44 and got up at 1:56, and the ref stopped the time at 2:12. Some of the rules were also not applied correctly with the countdown for both timekeeper and ref. The outcry of the fight being “fixed” was immense with the ref's mistakes and the “phantom punch”, and the fight is still one of the most controversial fights of all time.
