Plan a visit to the zoo this summer with your family and see if you can find an ostrich. Look at how large its eyes are! Do you think animal eyes work the same as human eyes? This can be a fun topic to explore with your family!

Sammy was so happy to see his friends at the Hilliard Safety Town and talk with them about how to keep their eyes safe. From safety glasses to sun protection and making sure to visit the optometrist, Sammy is helping everyone learn how to take care of their eyes.

SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER! We want to enjoy summer AND keep our eyes safe! Wearing sunglasses with UV protection and using hats with a brim are both helpful ways to protect us from the sun. Remember, you should never stare at the sun, even with sunglasses on because it can be harmful to your eyes.

“Happy little trees” are what Sammy Safe-Eyes sees! We need our eyes to see all the beauty that can be outside!

Realeyes staff joined another health day at St. Ursula in Cincinnati. Students learned about how to keep their eyes healthy and safe as we introduced them to characters like Sammy, Rhet, & Vinny! Health days at school may be winding down, but if you know of a health fair or community event over the summer, consider inviting Realeyes!

A true sign of summer – many community pools open this week! Grab your sunnies and towels and head to the pool to make a splash. Sunglasses are important on these summer days, but don't forget those goggles too. This message isn’t just for the youngest swimmers: we all need to protect our eyes while in the pool! You know the chemicals in the pool can dry out your eyes, but did you also know germs and dirt can get into your eyes if you open them underwater without protection?

12 Realeyes presenters + 2 schools + 2 days + 55 presentations = 1,200 6th grade students who have just increased their Eye-Q! These days in May prove to be some of the most exciting every year as optometrists and students from OSU converge on the Hilliard 6th grade campuses!
