On a rare day off during our tour last week we drove south from Reno and visited the state capital of Carson City, NV.

We ventured to an antique shop.
We saw a triangle.
We were happy.
Yay triangles!

Special thanks to Alissa Teachout and Teachout Music Studio for being an integral part of making Sympatico’s recent appearance in Reno, Nevada come to fruition.

As a former student of Susan Powell and Joe Krygier (along with being a fellow classmate of Johnny Mendoza) it was a joy to share our music with Alissa’s students and the Greater Reno community.

Sympatico presented a special hands-on session for some of the Teachout Music Studio students during the afternoon on Saturday, March 11 (it was a hoot!) and performed an evening concert that same day for an enthusiastic audience at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sparks, NV.

Thanks again to Alissa, Andy Heglund (University of Nevada - Reno) and Christi Blahnik (Damonte Ranch High School) for allowing us the opportunity to present our music in Northern Nevada. We hope to return to the Reno area again someday soon!

It was a joy to be a part of the University of Nevada - Reno Percussion Festival this past weekend. We had the opportunity to share our experiences on a wide range of topics. No stone was unturned!

Many thanks to UNR percussion professor Andy Heglund for inviting us to clinic and perform. Sympatico always feels privileged to hopefully inspire the next generation of percussionists.

And thanks for the post-event pizza hang! Yum. 🍕

Doing a little sound checking for tonight’s concert at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sparks, Nevada. Here’s a rehearsal clip of Toru Takemitsu’s “A Song of Circles and Triangles” arranged by Robin Engelman, founding member of Nexus Percussion group. Always a joy to play this piece.

A Texas-size thanks to everyone who supported us on our recent tour throughout the Lone Star State! We so appreciate the warm welcomes to your wonderful campuses and beautiful performance spaces.

We were thrilled to travel to several Texas cities, share our music and music-making concepts, visit old friends and make new ones along the way. And of course, there’s the food!

We already look forward to a return visit! Take care, y’all!

Howdy!

We’re so excited to be in San Antonio and launching our inaugural Texas Tour in this amazing city! Currently in rehearsals with our first official events on Monday and Tuesday at UTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio as we present a clinic, School of Music convocation and evening performance. All of this is made possible via the University of Texas – San Antonio’s newly created music series, En Vivo.

Fun fact: Sympatico member Johnny Mendoza is an alum of UTSA! It’s great to be on his undergraduate “home turf”.

Join us Tuesday evening, January 17, 7:30 pm in the UTSA Recital Hall. We hope to see y’all there!
