New music from my dear friend Xenia St. Charles Iris Llyllyth! When I reached out to some friends looking for pieces to play at my recording session in The Tank center for sonic arts, a space with 40 second natural reverb, I never could have envisioned such a profound and deeply beautiful piece would emerge. It was SUCH a joy to learn and record!

So happy to announce that my piece "Poetry in White" for flute and string quartet was chosen as one of the 25 semi-finalists for the Juventas New Music Ensemble call for scores! While they won't be programming my submitted piece, I'm incredibly excited about the potential for collaborating with such an excellent ensemble in the future, and so humbled to be chosen as a semi-finalist out of such a large field of applicants.
Another day, another premiere! This piece, "quiddities," is centered around personal experiences in this time of quarantine, both as someone who survived covid and as a musician who is attempting to remain collaborative despite distance.
Each of the four movements utilizes technology in a different way, becoming less traditional in sound but more collaborative in process as the movements go on. The accompanying visuals are all pictures and videos taken of my laptop throughout the rehearsal process, edited and processed to match my conception of the accompanying movement.
Many, many thanks to the incredibly talented performers who made this piece a reality!
Violin: Yuan-ju Liu
Viola: Tyler Pacheco
Cello: Herine Coetzee Koschak
Bass: Ayaka Ayaka
In case you missed the live premiere, here is brand-new ensemble Deuxplex, consisting of Alexa and Alexis Letourneau, performing my piece "defender of blackbirds."

I also had the opportunity to collaborate with the composer Steven Snowden and several other Fresh Inc participants on the second installment of the Sounds From Home project.
