Christoph Hess, former head of the German Equestrian Education unit tells us:
“In the beginning, I think everybody believed the Freestyle would be the end of dressage, especially important people like Reiner Klimke and Heinz Schütte.”
“Then just on twenty years ago, Reiner Klimke came back from the Olympic Games in Atlanta, and said I have to change my negative attitude to freestyle, I think without the freestyle, it would have been a very boring Olympic Games, and in his last years, he was very much in favor of freestyle.”
