Got this message earlier this year.
“Hi Salome! We are visiting Ft Moore to see our soldier who is attending Ranger School. We’re hoping this will be a great spot to bring him back for a quick nap and a home cooked meal before getting him outfitted for the next phase of his adventure.”
A quick nap. A home cooked meal. Then back into one of the hardest schools in the Army.
This is what the work actually is.
Fort Moore can house about 30% of permanent party on-post. Everyone else figures it out. Families fly in for graduations, spouses come for the brief windows soldiers get to see them, parents drive across the country to spend 48 hours with their kid before the next phase.
They need somewhere that feels like home. That’s the job.
To everyone who has served, and to the families who serve right alongside them. Thank you.

Quick note for any property owner thinking about hiring a co host or property manager.
Your listing photos belong to you.
Your listing copy belongs to you.
Your reservation data belongs to you.
Your guest reviews belong to you.
If your manager won't put that in writing, that's your
answer.
I've talked to too many owners this year who got burned because they trusted a handshake. They left a bad manager and walked away with nothing. No photos. No copy. No data. Starting from zero.
Read your contract. Ask the question directly. Get it in writing
Your business is yours. The work product is yours. Don't sign that away.
Had the chance to speak at Startup Columbus this month alongside my co founder and husband Bryan.
We joined the cohort a while back as founders who had operated in Tampa and Toronto. Highly competitive, highly touristic markets where guests come because they want to.
Columbus is different. This is a military market. People come because they have to. PCS moves, graduations, Ranger School, deployments. The demand is structural, not seasonal, and it took us time to really understand that.
Startup Columbus gave us the room to slow down and learn it. Spending time with the cohort, the mentors, and other founders building here is what helped us see this market for what it actually is, and build a business around it instead of fighting it.
2 years later we’re the ones being invited back to share what we know.
Thank you to everyone at Startup Columbus. We appreciate you more than you know.

A property owner came to me with a long term rental pulling $850 a month.
We didn’t list it right away.
First we built the brand. Picked the palette. Styled it in phases so the cash flow could fund the next round.
Projected monthly revenue once it goes live: $5K+
Most owners think design is the expensive part. It’s not. The expensive part is listing a property that looks like every other beige rental and wondering why the bookings aren’t coming.
My interior design package rolls out in phases:
Phase 1: brand identity and foundation pieces
Phase 2: styling that makes guests screenshot the place
Phase 3: the upgrades that lock in premium pricing
Each phase pays for the next.
Design isn’t decoration. It’s positioning.

Got a lead this week.
Two channels, same day. Facebook DM and the website contact form.
I asked how they found us.
“ChatGPT said you’re the best STR focused company in Columbus.”
So I asked it myself. There we were.
“WorldClass BNB. One of the most STR specific companies in Columbus. Boutique style, hands on with pricing, listing optimization, and guest experience. Arguably the closest thing to a true STR specialist locally.”
Four years of work showing up in places I never targeted.
No paid ads. No SEO push. Just consistency.
4.8 guest rating. 83.5% occupancy. 9 units running 28% above comps.
Reviews compound. Listings compound. Reputation compounds.
Eventually it starts feeding the systems other people search.

A guest messaged me at 5:53 PM.
“The sofa is really nasty. It doesn’t look like the photo.”
He was right. My cleaner was turning over four units that day, it got missed. That’s on the operation, not on the guest.
5:59 PM — I’m heading over.
6:25 PM — At the door.
6:49 PM — New couch in, styled, done.
56 minutes.
Managing multiple units means things will occasionally slip through no matter how tight your systems are. That’s just the reality. What you can control is how fast you move when it happens.
A bad review on a 13-night stay hurts way more than the cost of a couch.
That math is pretty simple.

Walked into a listing shoot the other day where the hosts were busy getting everything set up and operational before launch.
I could have just taken the photos and left.
Instead we spent time before the camera even came out.

Adjusted the curtains. Staged the outdoor space. Repositioned the pillows. Fixed the small things that are easy to miss when you’re focused on the big picture.
Most photographers aren’t hosts. They shoot what’s there and move on.
The difference is knowing what a guest actually looks for when they’re scrolling listings at midnight deciding where to book. Every detail in that frame either builds trust or quietly loses the booking.
That’s what we bring to every shoot. 📸

I’ve been quietly building something for a few months now.
I started formally collecting data from military families who’ve stayed near Fort Moore, asking about their housing experience, what was hard to find, and what made a difference.
The responses have been eye opening.
Families driving from Pennsylvania. From Illinois. From Tennessee. All dealing with the same problem, hotel rooms that can’t flex their check-in times, no space for a soldier with a suitcase between checkout and reporting back to base.
Over and over, the same story.
I’m turning this data into something bigger. More on that soon.
If you’re a military family who’s stayed with us, I’d love to hear your story too. Drop a comment or DM me 🙏

Superhost. On both accounts. 🏆
The one I’m most proud of is the account with all 8 of my properties. 536+ stays in a single year across one portfolio, and still hit every single Superhost requirement.
Response rate. Review quality. Cancellation rate.
Consistency across every unit, every guest, every checkout.
4 years in and the standard keeps going up.

Honest question for Columbus, GA property owners:
Do you know what your home could be earning as a short-term or mid-term rental?
Most owners we talk to are leaving $500–$1,500/month on the table. Not because their property isn't good enough, because it isn't positioned, priced, or managed right.
We offer free revenue estimates. No pitch, no pressure. Just real numbers based on your property and the current Columbus market.
