Our Story

The Center was established to provide community and life enrichment services to families, women, children and youth. The Center established a home for women and children in 2015 offering them supportive housing and opportunities for education and training. Having a desire to provide a path for young girls to develop strong self-esteems, confidence, emotional wellness and opportunities for leadership development, the Center implemented the Girls on Fire Mentoring and Enrichment Programs and the Leadership Academy. Currently the Center serves about 60 girls from age 8-12 years of age.

In 2019, the Center began developing a series of workshops and seminars to address mental and emotional wellness of youth through a grant from the Horizon Foundation. These workshops and seminars are designed to educate and provide parents and youth with the information on these issues and other parenting issues. The Center also received another grant from the Women’s Giving Foundation to develop a video project to build the self-esteem of African American Girls.
