Micro blading 101. We have other techniques to choose from too. Not everyone is a candidate for micro blading, which is 1 technique among several that can be used for great results.

We couldn't help but share @leblancartistry's take on microblading and we couldn't agree more! Here's what she had to say:

Let’s talk about microblading for a minute. Microblading is the individual hairlike strokes of pigment deposited into the skin that, if done correctly on ideal skin, will heal to look like real hairs.

BUT Microblading is not for everyone. If you have really oily skin, chances are those microblading hairstrokes that look amazing the first couple days after getting your brows done will be pushed out or thicken or blur because of your oils.

Every so often I can get an oily skinned client to hold crisp microblading strokes but chances are by the time they are ready for a touchup, some of those strokes have also blended together looking more like they are powder-filled.

Microblading also needs to be done at a 90-degree angle with a very tight stretch so the skin isn’t moving at all. Everyone’s skin is a different thickness so we need to go in slightly deeper on some skin types but it’s still not very deep at all if we want it to heal crisp and hair-like.

Think of a rose petal or a tissue paper for some, that’s not very thick. So if you’re microblading someone & they are gushing lots of dark red blood then check your stretch & pressure because you’re probably going too deep & could cause scarring and have deep/thick/ugly strokes. We are looking for pinpoint bleeding & lymph fluid as you can see in the fronts of the brow in this picture.

Another thing about microblading is it can heal & especially fade over time to an ashy color meaning it can look a little grayish. This is all fine and adjustable at touchups & luckily we have the powder brows for those with oily skin.

Microblading looks amazing when first done and can heal amazing if you have normal to dry skin but I want to be real about it not being the best brow method for everyone. I try to explain this to my clients and I am always willing to try microblading on all skin types if this is your goal because we can always change up your method at your touchup if it doesn’t hold on your skin like you hoped, but a little food for thought if you’ve been wanting your brows .
