Students at Harrison High School got the opportunity of a lifetime Friday Mar. 13, 2026 to be guest conducted by Argentinian-Italian conductor Michelle Di Russo as part of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic's Center for Future Audiences program. The Center for Future Audiences program is an initiative by the Philharmonic "dedicated to cultivate the next generation of concertgoers".
My first time doing basketball highlights for FOX21! I don’t think I did too shabby! Caught a thriller OT game which was so cool to witness and document. Basketball is a much faster game than football so I had to be selective knowing when to cut and move on to the next highlight clip. It was a fun learning opportunity!
Students at Carmel Community School in Colorado Springs got to have a ball with CPSD’s PlayCOS team Friday, Feb. 27 participating in a free throw contest to win Harlem Globetrotter tickets and gift cards to Scheel’s. Watch to see who wins!
On Friday Jan. 23, a special assembly was held at Lewis-Palmer High School to help raise money for Make-A-Wish kids across the nation. The school’s goal is to raise $15,000 to support kids like Alex Thrower, who wishes to go to Washington, DC, who was in attendance for the assembly.

A local teacher, Shana Engel, in Southern Colorado is a recipient of the “Oscar for teachers”, the Milken Award. The nationally prestigious award includes an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC and an unrestricted $25,000 cash prize. The school hosted an assembly to surprise Engel with the honor.

Governor Jared Polis was in Southern Colorado yesterday, visiting Jenkins Middle School (D11), a Purple Star school, and the new building for Abrams Elementary School (D8) on Fort Carson. This visit highlighted the governor’s appreciation for schools that go above and beyond to make life easier for military-connected students and their families.
