Julia L. Butterfield Bicentennial Celebration

Thank you for celebrating the Julia L. Butterfield Bicentennial with the Butterfield Library and Putnam History Museum! Our final celebration featured a Homestyle Bakery cake, Victorian crafts, a toast, and appearances by Julia and Daniel (thank you, Marianne Sutton & David Watson). Special thanks to Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg and Legislator Nancy Montgomery for their support of the library, museum, and the enrichment of women’s and local history!

We received many wonderful entries for the Bicentennial Writing Contest and are excited to share the names of the winners!

Following the Contest Winners' Reception, Putnam History Museum Executive Director Cassie Ward and Education & Public Programming Manager Kara Mattsen led us on an unforgettable historic stroll along Main Street, exploring Julia Butterfield's life and legacy.

We would like to give a huge thank you to the amazing judges and adorable and talented group of carolers. Lastly, a big thank you to library volunteer Barbara Eliran for bringing some very tasty holiday cookies and helping lead our carolers!

Along the stroll we’ll take in the beautiful Cold Spring Aglow and learn about the woman who brough us the Butterfield Library, Butterfield Hospital, and building associated with St. Mary’s Church.
